Job overview and responsibilities

The Analyst will support AO leaders by conducting analyses on various operational drivers and providing data-driven business insights. The position requires a strong emphasis on statistical concepts, visualization, and business analysis to help generate actionable insights. The Analyst will need to have a strong technical and analytical background and be able to deliver results with limited supervision. The Analyst will support storyboarding, data engineering, new tool development, KPI design, dashboard creation and automation for operational leaders and groups of United. The person must have the experience to be able to extract insights from large volumes of data and be able to clearly communicate relevant triggers and recommendations.

• Automate existing manual reports and processes to improve operational throughput.

• Execute solutions to business problems using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, statistical modelling, and machine learning technique.

• Develop and validate evaluation metrics and models to analyze business performance and areas of opportunity.

• Curate tables and views that serve as the “single source of truth” for United’s operations data.

• Act independently to identify opportunities for improved analysis or improved efficiency through better use of statistical tools.

• Build high-quality story decks, dashboards, tools and reports for operation’s leadership, eTeam, front-line management and individual business teams throughout the organization.

• Collaborate with internal and external teams, help business owners make faster, smarter decisions.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant work experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or in a quantitative discipline like Applied Mathematics, Statistics

• 2-5 years of relevant business experience

• Knowledge of Python or R

• Visually creative, hands-on knowledge and development experience on Tableau/ Spotfire/ PowerBI

• Proven analytical and quantitative ability; use data and metrics to validate hypothesis and perform root cause analyses

• Strong experience in querying and manipulating relational databases via Teradata SQL Assistant, Oracle SQL Developer, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

• 4+ years of analysis experience if a bachelor’s degree.

• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship

• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

• Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)

Preferred

• Master’s degree

• Airline experience or knowledge of airline operations

• Exposure to statistical and analytical methods
