Summary:

Duties
The Consular Information Unit’s (CIU) Visa Assistant is responsible for all aspects of consular correspondence and public information services related to Consular Services at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai. The CIU Visa Assistant responds to email and written inquiries regarding processing of Immigrant and Non-Immigrant visa cases, Fraud Prevention activities, and other Consular services, as well as dissemination of public information via the Consular website and other presentation materials. Incumbent assists in planning, coordinating and executing various consular outreach initiatives in Mumbai’s five-state Consular district.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years’ experience working with regulatory information and customer service is required. (Please describe your previous and current job responsibilities in detail.)
Key Requirements:
Completion of two years of college studies is required.
Minimum three (3) years related work experience (See Experience section)
English and Hindi plus Marathi or Gujarati required (See Language section)

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Fluency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required. Good working knowledge (speaking) in Hindi, and Marathi or Gujarati is required. This may be tested. (Please specify in your application your level of proficiency in each language listed here.)

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
