Working with Functional QE team, you will be engaged in an initial and most creative phase of test plan development from Project Requirement Document(PRD) for the feature you have been assigned and you will work closely with developers and PM team to ensure all requirements are tested for the feature.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Within your first 6 months:

• Understanding existing product features.

• Working on different components of the product.

• Understanding Tools and Techniques

• Understanding the automation framework

• Contribution towards feature automation

• Identifying Test Gaps for Assignment Module.

• Manual cum automation driven testing and working with Dev Counter part for Feature Complete of owned Feature.

• Test plan creation/Test case development/Test Execution. Driving it End to end for owned feature.

Within your first 12 months:

• Becoming Feature Owner and Module Owner

• Becoming Subject Matter Expect for assigned module

• Need to be aware of interop + Upgrade scenarios to be covered for all features in owned module

• Controlling /reducing Customer found defects

• Managing Assigned engineer works

• Provide feedback in design and test-plan reviews

• Contribution towards basic Infra for new features

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As part of Functional Team

• You will be working on test plan development for assigned new feature

• Testcase automation for existing feature using python/pytest

• Creating Merge Request for automated features and getting approval from QE and Infra team.

• Working on test gap analysis for assigned module based on Customer Found defects.

• Following with Dev/PM to enhance coverage and closing the test gaps.

• Participation in test plan reviews, test case reviews

Our requirements from you as a part of the Functional Team are

Must Have.

• Technical Skills

• 6 – 10 Years working on testing Networking, Routing and Switching Protocols ( Like STP, BGP, OSPF)

• 3+ Years of experience in Python Automation

• Knowledge on Git workflows

• Ability to Debug, trouble shoot and Resolve Issues.

• Ability to own complete feature

• Worked on Customer Found Defects Analysis and has done Root Cause Analysis and taken Corrective Action(s)

• Worked on TestPlan, TestCase Development, Manual and Automation Covering End to End of Feature.

• Soft Skills

• Ownership of assigned work

• Ability to Clearly Communication

• Curiosity to learn new things

Good to Have

• Understanding of Atlassian Suites like Jira. Confluence

• Worked on Spirent and Ixia tools

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This position reports to the Manager of the Engineering Team, The team consists of highly competent junior and senior engineers across India. This role is dedicated to India. We focus on Functional/Feature testing.

You will be initially part of the established team that has a wide range of core responsibilities, but the expectation is that you will grow to specialist or subject matter expert, lead projects by becoming module owner/lead later. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to start new things and put their mark on a team and company. 

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
