The Monitor group is seeking a software engineer with a passion for test engineering, automation infrastructure and bare metal code. Monitor Verification Team maintains an internally built micro operating system running as a virtual machine on a large number of server computers to automate virtualization testing across different cpu architectures, platforms and operating systems. You will work closely with the development team to participate in test design reviews, architecture, test infrastructure development across different operating system environments. You will have the opportunity to work with leading edge x86, ARM servers with latest cpu technology, and developer environments set up on Windows, Mac, Linux and other POSIX-like operating systems. Responsibilities

• Design, architect, implement efficient test automation infrastructure that works across platforms, including error detection, log collection, and storage
• Increase overall automation of end-to-end testing, implement methods to reduce overall test times, increase test efficiency, devise and implement algorithms for test result processing.
• Monitor system health, develop skills and understanding to scan for failures, triaging bugs, and bug report flow.
• Develop understanding of bare metal code, virtual machine configuration, build environments.

Essential Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, or a BS with a strong CS and operating systems background with greater than 3 years of experience
• Greater than 3 years of experience in designing and developing software using programming languages such as Python, Java, Perl, Ruby, bash and exposure to C/C++ application development.
• 3 years of experience in performing architecture and design specification, analysis to define test strategy, test plan, and test cases
• Experience in software verification principles. Performing test coverage analysis to improve effectiveness of testing, designing algorithms for processing test results data.
• Experience with kernel modules, system calls, cpu architecture, systems software, kernel performance analysis and optimization.
• Knowledge of POSIX operating system environments

Desirable Skills

• Experience in the operating system boot flow, command line tools, POSIX operating system environments.
• Interest in Hardware, systems software, linux shell scripting, developer tools and environments.
• Exposure experience in database technologies and REST APIs.
• Experience working with hardware, x86 processor architecture
• Experience with VMware vSphere technologies would be a plus.
