VMware is extending its virtualized networking product NSX to the Cloud and we need your help. The NSX Controller team is hiring a software engineer to join us. The Controller is an advanced distributed state management system that programs the NSX virtual networks and overlay transport tunnels and security. The Controller is part of the Networking and Security Business Unit that has quickly grown to over a billion dollar business over the past 6 years, yet it still feels a lot like a startup. You’ll be part of a bright engineering team that values open communication, learning, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Design and develop features in C++, Golang or Python for our distributed software Virtualization environment.

• Collaborate in our large-scale distributed systems design discussions.

• Deliver solid code and working applications that provide the appropriate level of security, performance and reliability.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will participate in many creative projects, with the authority and scope to apply your expertise in a dynamic and technically driven environment. In a typical day you might investigate a technical issue, work through design approaches with your peers, make the Controller easier to support at customer sites, dig into an area of code you want to improve, or puzzle out how to scale the product while keeping the code tight and clean. You will put these skills to use:

• Strong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills.

• Knowledge of testing methodologies and a real passion for building quality products.

• Eager to contribute to winning as a team

• 8 years’ experience building software solutions in fast paced engineering environment using C/C++, Golang or Python
