Senior Product Manager, VMware Cloud

The VMware Cloud infrastructure Business Group is seeking a Senior Product Manager who is looking to make an impact on how customers begin their journey with VMware Cloud. You will be working on enabling trials and improving the experience of self-service onboarding for VMware Cloud. This initiative is critical to accelerate customer acquisition and shorten the time to value.
You will have ownership of defining the experience for one of our routes to market that allows customers to access VMware Cloud service through the marketing website without any assistant from Sales. You will build the vision of how new customers discover, learn, try, and buy the service in the next couple of years. You will also be the PM owner of Identity Access Management for VMware Cloud, managing the service roles to support the evolving VMware Cloud service. You will get to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. You will be participating in growing a new business that is revolutionizing the cloud computing world.
Activities include research and analysis of customer requirements; working collaboratively with engineering and UX using an Agile development model; working closely with a distributed team to define and implement the customer workflows; and writing of white papers, blogs and building presentations.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
In your first 30 days, you will quickly come up to speed on Quickstart, the route to market that enables customers to access VMware Cloud through the marketing website, and the target personas for self-service onboarding. You will also learn about IAM in VMware Cloud. You’ll also start to get to know stakeholders and collaborators – critical to get your job done well.
By day 60, you are taking the lead in defining the detailed requirements of trial. You will build a business plan and socialize internally to get buy-ins. You will also work closely with the eng teams on the implementation for both trial and IAM.
After 90 days, you will define a vision and a roadmap of trial and self-service onboarding. In parallel, you will drive customer adoption, get feedback from customers and stakeholders to continue to improve the product.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
The essence of a product manager is to gather customer- and business requirements and translate them into a prioritized set of requirements for Engineering and other parts of the organization to use to deliver a solution to customers. Success is measured by the customer adoption of your solution
To achieve this, you will be regularly meeting with customers to understand their needs and pain points, as well as with colleagues across the company to understand their plans and how we can collaborate for customer success.
For your proposals to be understood and approved, excellent written- and verbal communication is essential, whether discussing with internal colleagues, up the management chain, or discussing with customers for feedback and validation.
Your key duties and responsibilities:
Define the requirements for trial and for improving the experience for self-service onboarding. Conduct customer and internal research to identify the pain points and define the success criteria.
Collaborate with UX designers to define the end-to-end experience.
Define the vision and build a roadmap towards the vision. Socialize the requirements and roadmaps and get alignment across services and functions.
Work with other PM teams for the workstreams that are required for trials, such as fraud prevention, usage metering, invoicing.
Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
Work in cross functional Agile teams combining Development, UX, customer success, support, finance, sales, and marketing to deliver product to market.
Act as a focal point of escalation for the field of any sales, delivery operations to identify at earlier stage and reduce risk.
Partner with senior leaders across functional teams to drive day-to-day operations and help determine GTM strategy.
Identify key metrics and build executive-facing dashboards to track progress and drive improvements of solution.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
Previous working experience as a Product Manager for 5+ years
Proven track record of growing new products or services into successful businesses, especially for enterprise products
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
Creative thinker with a vision
Strong track record of shaping strategy for technical products or services
Strong knowledge of modern web and application development concepts & technologies
Ability to handle several concurrent activities with attention to detail
Passionate about technology and have a strong drive to advance the state of IT
Ability to make reasoned decisions in ambiguous situations
Ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions
Preferred Skills
MBA and BA/BS in Computer Science (or equivalents) strongly preferred
Experience in SaaS delivery
Working understanding of modern API (REST/JSON/OAuth) and UX (Responsive) concepts
