You will work with a talented team of writers, developers and product designers to document products and solutions that prevent the next front page security breach. This Technical Writer position provides a unique opportunity to grow your security documentation expertise while also helping to set strategies and best practices for supporting cloud-based product releases.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• You will work as part of a distributed, global team in a dynamic environment. You understand the technical writing process, possess the technical expertise to explain complex technical concepts to an administrator audience, and have superb communication, leadership, and project planning skills.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other writers to create and revise existing technical content in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Write for a range of customers, including new and experienced operators, administrators, and developers.
• Work with peer reviewers, incorporating editorial feedback to ensure that VMware style and standards are appropriately observed in technical content and media.
• Research writing assignments using a variety of sources including trying out the feature, reviewing issues, code, and commit messages, and interviewing subject matter experts.
• Ensure compliance with documentation styles and standards.
• Write and publish world-class technical documentation using SDL Tridion Docs, Oxygen and DITA.
• Contribute to a single-sourced content library where conditions will play a key role in generating specific deliverables. You should be comfortable with the use of conditions.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? The technical writers report to an IX Manager as part of the Information Experience (IX) organization. For this role, you will work with other experienced writers to create documentation for multiple products. The technical writers work independently and coordinate their work with one another and with their development teams. One team member has the role of lead writer and works with the team to ensure that consistent organization and content guidelines are defined.
Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
