Job Purpose

Vodafone Idea Limited is setting up IP Transport Network with around 24K Routers and 200 Data Centre locations for mobility, IT and enterprise services and applications.
We are looking for a talented IP MPLS Products & Strategy network Architect to design and manage Vodafone Idea Limited IP/MPLS network. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of IP/MPLS Products of multiple Vendors, features and scale requirements, latest technologies with IP and network Automation, as well as experience in designing large telco IP Transport and development of the future ready network. Candidate should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share knowledge. Candidate should have experience in managing team members.
This role is responsible for

• Responsible for building Telco Data Centre & IP network Architecture.
• Analysing and finalising best IP networking products with Automation support from Vendors.
• Consolidating, identifying and constantly developing technologies, policies and standards, ensuring implementation of best practice through continuous assessment, communicating process and product recommendations for Data Centre, Products Specification, Scales and latest technologies.
• Continuously analysing performance of technologies and product deployed in network for enhancing service experience to VIL Customers.
• Analysing and finalising best Leaf-Spine, Data Centre Gateway Products from Vendors.
• Strategy for Lean IP network and Solutions for minimum latency and best customer experience.

Key Result Areas/Accountabilities

• IP/MPLS Products RFP
• RFI/RFP preparation, laying out technical requirements for new products.
• Analysing IP product feature Specification, Scales & Lean Specifications
• Lean BOQ (Bill Of Quantity) and SOW (Scope Of Work) preparation and signoff documents
• Network Automation using SDN with all possible Use cases like LSP optimization, Segment Routing, SDN controller based service intelligence, Traffic flow steering, Packet Overhead Reduction, IP + Optical integration.
• Vendor discussion, technical evaluation, Solution finalization with vendors BOQ and Scope Of Work finalization
• Assisting commercial teams on technical aspects, Providing Signed off BOQ and SOW to Commercial team for price negotiations.
• Coordination with Project team for network deployment.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience

• Strong vendor-management skills to interface with Suppliers for product evaluation.
• Deep understanding of product features and Scale, Technologies Evaluation for IP/MPLS network nodes with new Technologies Evaluation.
• Advanced analytical skills to understand business requirements and translate them to network requirements
• Ability to manage in dynamic, high-growth, high-uncertainty environments.
• Strong Technical foundation with market leading certifications (optional)

Must have technical / professional qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science, relevant field.
• 10-15 + years’ experience in designing large IP Telco network with latest IP products.
• Technical knowledge of IP/MPLS, Routing protocols, latest IP technologies like EVPN, VxLAN, Segment Routing, QOS, various redundancy protocols etc.
• Certifications in IP Technologies like CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE etc certifications is preferred.
• Prior Experience to drive RFI/RFP and PoC for IP Network Products
• Experience in IP infrastructure planning, configurations, provisioning and network development.
• Should be updated with latest IP Technologies and products.
