Data is a new function within Digital & IT with the goal to unlock the power of data for the full Volvo Group to become a fully data-driven company! With data, the core component of our transformation journey, we will, together with our data talents, make the Volvo Group 2030 vision happen. We will take care of all the aspects of Data, how it is quality assured, documented, made available, prepared, and consumed through BI, Analytics and Machine Learning. We have an ambitious transformation in front of us, with an implementation of the Data Layer in Azure as well as the reinforcement of Data Governance and Data Management in the full Group.

We collaborate with other parts of the organization, both in Digital & IT, with TD/BAs and Group Functions. We foster an environment where ideas, thoughts and opinions can be shared. We are team players with clear common ambitions, and we win together.

In our data chapters we are focusing on building our skills and developing our people in the data related skills needed to excel in transforming data into value for our business. We will be supporting our employees in becoming highly skilled experts in data that can support all of Volvo Group to become a data driven company.
This is how you could make an impact As chapter lead you will be the line manager for our data engineers in India and will directly coach and develop one of the teams of data engineers in their skills journey, spanning from data onboarding to operationalization of advanced analytics and AI to realization, with best practice tools and methods. You will be a part of the Data Engineers Chapter management team and report to the Head of Chapter Data Engineers. These will be some selected responsibilities:

• Build & develop skills including attract and develop talents
• Build a Data Engineering community and enable knowledge sharing across domains
• Work as a practitioner in your area of expertise
• Develop the working methods for Data engineering
• Secure “external” input and best practice sharing in the community
• Manage capacity planning and new requests for Data Analysts

Who are you? We believe you want to take your career to the next level, working with amazing people around the world. To be successful in this position we believe you have a university degree or equivalent, and several years of experience as a data engineering practitioner, as well as experience of leadership in line organizations or projects.

To succeed in this role, it is beneficial if you are experienced and understand technologies for the field like databases, data lakes and data pipelines. You have knowledge in leading technologies and frameworks in for example Spark/databricks, CD/CI, DataOps, MLOps as well as more traditional ETL approaches and tools. You are experienced in the data engineering domain development as a practitioner that keeps up to date with the latest development. It is beneficial if you have practiced and applied Machine Learning and AI Engineering from development to production ready solutions.

The right candidate will be able to think and act strategically but also to operate and implement change tactically when required, dealing effectively with ambiguity, and managing changing priorities. You should be passionate about driving strategic & technological transformation in a business focused, fact-based, and collaborative way to achieve real impact. This role requires solid communication skills and a passion for leading, inspiring, and developing people.

You should feel energized by working both independently and interdependently, have proven skills in cross-functional collaboration and thrive in managing, foster, and enable both the perform and the transform angles of the job.
