Responsibilities
Job purpose
Deliver and develop approved technical training at recognized technical training centers for internal and external trainees for SCADA technology for OT/IT applications. The technical instructor is responsible for coordinating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from R&D, services, and support teams to update literature and materials to be used in training programs (videos, technical work instruction, etc.) and develops exercises to enhance learning objectives to account for new capabilities or changes in business objectives.

OPERATIONS
Responsible for delivery of training, technical competency development, and SCADA career progression requirements:
Coordinate all talent management solutions including training material, external and internal communication etc. for the Digital Solutions team
Provide training support for all clients on SCADA for oil field operations
Assist with developing and delivering a training program to solve customers’ challenges for digital transformation in the drilling and production domain
Proficiency in all aspects of the technical training development and delivery, and managing the technical competency development activities such as but not limited to:
Ensure technical training documentation is relevant and up to date
Create, maintain, and sustain Training & Competency documentation standards
Work with the Global Technical Development, Infrastructure Team, and other Product Lines’ Training and Competency Managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Instructional Designers
Develop and deliver SCADA training, including:
Basic of SCADA, DCS, PLC, and ICS, their architecture, and applicability. Explain data acquisition, data communication, data presentation, and control for operations
Explain best practices of SCADA system, security, and deployment
Design and develop high-performance Human Machine Interface (HMI) for effective operation control as per ANSI/ISA-101 Human Machine Interfaces
Use of high-performance HMI philosophy and style guide with proper principles to assess and benchmark existing graphics against the HMI philosophy. Determine specific performance and goal objectives/targets for process control, such as safety parameters, production rate, efficiency, cost, and quality
Use HMI design principles to define controls for monitoring and manipulation to achieve the performance and goal objectives. Design high-performance graphics, following the HMI philosophy, addressing the identified tasks. Install, and commission the new HMI
Explain various machine-to-machine communication protocols for data acquisition and telemetry, i.e. TCP/IP Protocols, Modbus RS485, DNP3, wireless communication protocols etc.
Explain SCADA System Reliability Models for redundancy and disaster recovery, implantation architecture, and use case for reliable operation
Explain Purdue Model for Industrial Network Security for the isolation between industrial control systems (ICS) or operational technology (OT) and IT systems
Explain SCADA uses for oil and gas production including upstream production at wells and facilities, mid-stream pipeline flow, and downstream use at refineries
Explain programming and scripting technologies for workflow automation such as python, C#, VB etc.
Explain alarms management strategy across its lifecycle with acknowledgment, severity based on operational context, metrics, prioritization, suppression/shelving, and security implications
Explain SCADA point configuration for data acquisition (input point) and device control (output point). Explain various point types such as Analog point, Digital point, counterpoint (accumulates a value over time), string point (a textual string value), time point (property has a date/time value), and pulse action to control a device for a defined period i.e., start motor
Explain the SCADA historian for storing and logging all of the data that the SCADA system aggregates.
Explain SCADA Open Platform Communications (OPC) standard for interoperability standard for the secure and reliable exchange of data between Clients and Servers for access to real-time data, monitoring of alarms and events, and access to historical data.
Explain the use of SQL and various database access technologies for data exchange for integration of SCADA systems to enterprise systems to achieve the financial and reporting objectives
Adhere to Training department policies and procedures. work with the Training and Competency Manager to deliver training projects– whether large, region, or impact ensuring that all milestones of budget and timeline are met in line with project objectives
Facilitate pre- and post-training client sessions that determine needs/challenges, address client questions, manage expectations and resolve concerns to exceed clients’ expectations and meet internal quality, time, and budget constraints
Lead, mentor, and train team members for the effective development of learning and competence standards, content improvement, and domain development
Remain current on industry regulations, developments, and the technical community. Contribute to the global technical society in thought leadership exercises and advisory boards
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the job

Qualifications
Experience & Education
REQUIRED
BA/BS/BE Degree or equivalent work experience
7+ years of relevant industry experience including working in international locations and 3+ years as a Technical Training Instructor
PREFERRED
Experience with VB Script, C# (or other .NET language) is a plus
Previous IT or Enterprise Software experience preferred
Working knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry is a plus, especially SCADA use is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
REQUIRED
Ability to manage, motivate and assess a dynamic work group
Demonstrated ability to effectively train and mentor personnel in classroom and field environments.
Knowledge of technical training program design and development techniques
Ability to plan, delegate, schedule and monitor results
Good oral and written communication skills are a necessity
PREFERRED
Technical-minded and very knowledgeable in the product line category
