The Zscaler Engineering team is a fast paced and exciting product development team which is at the forefront of adopting cloud technology and solving customer problems. We hire talented engineers and provide them lots of freedom and autonomy to build great products. The position is to hire an engineer who will contribute to significantly improve product quality. We are looking for engineers with a combination of
solid in-depth understanding of networking, systems and security and have the ability to test software for scale, performance and availability.

Responsibilities/What You’ll Do:

• Experience in designing, building and enhancing distributed systems components & must be able to write high-performance code using very efficient algorithms.
• Must be able to ensure that memory is used efficiently so that system responsiveness is maintained during high load times.
• Collaborate with the operations team (OPS) to deploy, monitor and if required patch the changes with fixes and enhancements. Continuously scale the systems as more customers/users get added, able to identify hotspots, and timely alleviate/remediate the situation
• To work cross-functionally with the Quality Assurance team to test the work product, and influence the testing to make the product ready for deployment
• Demonstrate the ability to build software in small, interactive chunks and perform the unit testing prior to handing over to the quality assurance team

Qualifications
Qualifications Qualifications/Your Background

• Strong Java programming, Data structures/Algorithms & debugging skills in cloud environment.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, data structures and software engineering best practices
• Extensive Experience with traditional databases and APIs
• Experience with Web Services (REST) and microservices preferred
• Must have developed middle-tier or backend java apps for web applications
• Some working experience with bash /python script programming is preferred
• Some experience with Hibernate or Object relation mapping frameworks
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• Familiarity with the JSON, XML
• Experience with browser debugging and profiling tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
