Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) Looking For Chief of Staff at New Delhi, Delhi, Full Time

Location: New Delhi

Purpose: CEEW, one of Asia’s leading not-for-profit policy research institutions is looking for a highly accomplished and strategic Chief of Staff, who can work independently and provide high-caliber management support. You will act as an extension to the CEO and support research in connecting the dots across CEEW’s 15 programmatic areas to prepare world-class memos, briefs, presentations, analyses, and reports for government, industry, bilateral/multilateral, academic institutions, and donor/ philanthropic organisations.

Please equally note that this is not an Operational role with some extra -parts thrown in, but a strategic role, instrumental for ensuring the CEO’s time remains laser-focused towards Vision 2030.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Planning and managing CEOs’ days, understanding and prioritising stakeholders, meetings, etc.
• Ideate, prepare, and curate cutting-edge research briefs, documents, memos, analysis, presentations, and reports for the CEO’s office to facilitate key meetings with the concerned teams and the dedicated Research Analysts.
• Be part of CEO meetings, by preparing extensively, observing (verbal and non-verbal cues), excellent note-taking, and summarising to ensure follow-up and follow-through of the agreed action items and objectives.
• Draft and manage the dissemination of all internal and external communication to and from the CEO’s office.
• Collaborate and work closely with the Outreach team for the CEO office media engagements as well on the Foresight team’s events, publications, opinion pieces, articles, convenings, panel discussions, etc.
• Coordinate monthly budget reviews and highlight areas of focus for the CEO and also manage the annual budget for the CEO’s office, in tandem with EAs including overseeing and planning requisitions, reconciliations, trip reports, and scheduled accounting reports; and ensuring these are accurate and submitted ahead of time.
• From time to time, planning and managing all CEO transactional/operational tasks with the EAs to help create the CEO’s bandwidth and increase productivity.
• Handle confidential and business-critical information with utmost integrity.
• Planning and managing the CEO’s project-level coordination with other teams, for example, planning state visits, event attendances, etc.
• Some special assignments, for example, overseeing and organising CEO’s high-level lunches and dinners as part of strategic outreach in tandem with EAs.

Qualification and work experience:

• Ph.D./Masters/Bachelor in Public Policy, Environment, International Relations, Macro or Trade Economics, etc.
• 8- 12 years of total work experience and at least 2 -3 years in a similar role would be preferred.
• Experience with working in the think-tank/multilateral/inter-governmental organisational space would be preferred.

Key skills:

• This is an individual contributor role requiring some previous experience, preferably in a similar role, with the ability to persuade, encourage, and motivate others in a highly collaborative setting.

• A global outlook and capacity to work across the Global North, Global South, and Far East, with different cultures and regional/international priorities. Experience gained in an international, complex, and multi-cultural setting will be highly beneficial.
• Demonstrated project management, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
• Superb communication skillset, with the ability to interact with a variety of constituencies both internally and externally, with tact and discretion.

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by the industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
