Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Corporate Lawyer at the Indian Institute of Patent and Trademark Education and Research. I completed an integrated degree in bachelor’s in law and business administration from Jindal Global Law School, India in 2023. On being shortlisted for a dual-degree pathway programme, I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Law at King’s College London specialising in Intellectual Property and Information Law.

After carefully reviewing the eligibility requirements and conducting extensive research, I am excited to contribute my legal skills and knowledge to your esteemed institute. I am deeply passionate about working at the Institute as I truly believe in its mission and vision and to gain exposure and experience as a corporate lawyer to develop my legal career. The position will be of utmost benefit to me to further develop my skills and knowledge in the field of law, especially in intellectual property law, while achieving and satisfying the Institute’s objectives and interests respectively. My future career goals are to be a dual-qualified lawyer in the UK, and India and be able to practice in both countries. I will be obtaining my license to practice law in India this year. I have commenced my preparation for the SQE1 which is due in January 2025, and hope to qualify as a solicitor in the UK in the coming years. Furthermore, the opportunity to gain exposure to the Institute’s working environment and professional practices will prepare me to be a successful corporate lawyer.

My practical experience honed through internships at reputable corporate law firms and litigation chambers in India has equipped me with a robust skill set suited to meet the demands of this role. I am a very detail-oriented person with the ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a team under pressure to meet short deadlines while maintaining the quality and accuracy of the work. During my internships at corporate law firms, I meticulously drafted contractual and court legal documents, and case law reports, and conducted thorough legal research for client advisory and court arguments on short deadlines. I also possess problem-solving and strong communication skills which I have showcased while assisting associates and interacting with law enforcement agencies during court proceedings, and advising clients during client counselling sessions.

Beyond my legal acumen, my contributions to collaborative projects and publications underscore my dedication to staying updated with the latest legal developments. I have effectively communicated complex legal issues through articles, research papers, and case law reports, showcasing my ability to translate legal intricacies into comprehensible language. My leadership roles and volunteer work highlight my commitment to community engagement and effective event management. I have been a part of various societies wherein I organised various events demonstrating my organizational prowess, patience, prioritisation and time management skills, and leadership capabilities. Additionally, my multilingual skills and Microsoft Office proficiency, further bolster my candidacy for this role.
