The Global Payroll Tax Lead is a critical member of the Novartis Global Services organization and its P&O Services Integration and Delivery team. The main purpose of this position is to manage high quality, centralized, standardized, and compliant process for calculation of the USD 5 billion payroll / Employment taxes operations for currently about 110’000 employees in a model based on outsourced payroll services. Your key responsibilities: Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: -Provide inputs to the P&O Services strategy, develop plans within the focus area and ensure its implementation across assigned region / business areas, while continuously driving improvement and innovation. -Provide counsel and strategic recommendations on P&O Services, and program design. -Lead the provision of P&O Services to the organization, based on expectations set with Unit P&O / others as relevant and ensure that roles and responsibilities for processes end-to-end are clearly defined and understood -Lead the efficient implementation of all P&O Services processes and standards across the region (e.g. global standards, efficiency, ESS/MSS) in alignment with and support of the organization’s P&O strategy. -Analyze and identify potential design improvements (in cooperation with P&O), providing change management support and appropriate communications to prepare implementation of new services and processes. -Manage the preparation and finalization of budget/resource allocation and investments plans for the area of responsibility. -Manage periodic cost and efficiency analyses to support productivity objectives, monitor, and initiate additional activities if required. -Manage and ensure the correct and timely implementation of global P&O Services policies throughout the region. -Oversee the management, training and development of P&O Services teams -Lead or initiate various P&O Services projects. nnnn Position Title: Global Payroll Tax Head Minimum requirements: What you’ll bring to the role: o Accountable for defining global process that ensures payroll accuracy with respect to employment tax (including social security) withholding, reporting and payment to authorities: o Collaborates with colleagues in P&O Services, Equity, Global Mobility, Recognition, Rewards, Payroll, Finance, Tax, external payroll vendors and tax vendor. o Defines and implements standard best practice processes that provide payroll accuracy. Implements review and sign-off of all sources of data to ensure completeness and correctness. o Builds controls and embeds them into the organization. o Defines and implements reconciliation processes globally for all sources of non-standard or complex data (equity, mobility, SPARK, board compensation) o Leads collaborative internal reviews and audits to support countries and determines level of employment tax compliance and risk. o Closely monitors and takes action to remediate areas of risk and resolves outstanding issues. o Leads employment tax audits across globe, providing guidance to local countries, resolving the audits quickly and to a high standard. o Decides whether to make voluntary disclosures of past compliance gaps to tax authorities based on global employment tax principles and local specific circumstances (e.g. whether it is possible in practice to correct) Why Novartis? 769 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2020, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives.
