Alliance to End Plastic Waste Looking For Chief Advisor, South Asia at Delhi, Full Time

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste is a global non-profit organisation headquartered in Singapore. Our mission is to help end plastic waste in the environment, and we do this by developing, deploying, and scaling solutions that result in a positive environmental impact. We are now seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Chief Advisor, South Asia. The successful candidate will require to establish strategic thinking capabilities coupled with a strong motivation to deliver against agreed targets. The ideal candidate will be a well-motivated focused self-starter able to work effectively from home office as part of a dynamic global team.

At the core, this role contributes to our vision of ending plastic waste leakage into the environment, growing our credibility and influence with members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Regional Head

• Provide services to AEPW in South Asia, overseeing and supporting AEPW relationships and activities principally in India, but also in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and other neighboring nations in line with the overall AEPW strategy; The job holder is recognized as the senior AEPW representative in the region.
• Support and own the development of a multi-year strategy for South Asia that includes project development and management; membership growth and engagement; legal entity set-up; and relationship development with key stakeholders and agreed with AEPW leadership.
• In cooperation with relevant partners, provide inputs to AEPW to set up and establish a presence and legal entity in India, as agreed with AEPW leadership.
• Own and lead AEPW in region by supporting the building of new relationships with relevant stakeholders, such as in business, government, academia and others.
• Own and lead the organization and running of the South Asia Regional Task Group and ensure that its members are fully engaged in relevant aspects of AEPW project sourcing, project development, project governance, as well as AEPW community building in the South Asia region.

Strategic membership

• Own and lead all existing designated relationships (as Primary Engagement Manager) for AEPW in India and South Asia, such as with existing member companies, strategic allies, and project partners.
• In addition to those members where the job holder is the Primary Engagement Manager the job holder is required to pro-actively manage and engage those members with activities in the region as part of the extended global membership team:
• Support the growth of a community of India-based members through recruitment of new companies to join the Alliance, as well as the development of a strong South Asia community of CEOs at member companies.
• Assist AEPW in identifying and developing cooperation relationships with financial partners and funding institutions and banks in India and South Asia.
• Work with AEPW to organize stakeholder and AEPW awareness raising events in South Asia; Share AEPW’s perspectives at relevant events in South Asia.
• Provide support to AEPW with the purpose of introductions.
• Provide support to AEPW with the purpose of coordination.

Projects

• Responsible for overseeing South Asia regional projects portfolio in line with regional portfolio strategy, supporting Regional Projects Director
• For assigned projects, responsible for:

a) Project development through implementation with project partner, according to AEPW’s staged gate process, working closely with support functions (financial, legal, communications), the Regional Task Group, Technical Solutions Centre and related Thematic Expert Groups, as required.

b) Bi-weekly stewardship with the project partner for project implementation to ensure delivery in line with contractual objectives, including milestone achievement and related funding disbursement. Monitor project against approved budget, milestones. In case of deviations, develop mitigation actions with project partner where possible, escalating to the Regional Projects Director and Project Steerco as appropriate.

c) Timely project reporting including quarterly impact metrics submission, quarterly project review slides, bi-monthly updates in Salesforce for Members Portal, project updates for member meetings, project steercos, project closures etc

d) Periodic project site visits at least twice a year for project monitoring

• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (local leadership of project partners, NGOs, local governments, co-funders etc.) to drive engagement and results for the success of the projects.
• Proactively identify project scaling or replication opportunities, bringing opportunities to the Regional Projects Director and VP Projects for consideration

Competencies & Qualities:

• High level engagement experience, comfortable communicating with C suite company officers.
• Capability to hunt and secure new member companies across the plastics value chain in line with strategy.
• Established relationship with the government and associated governmental organizations.
• Strong project/programme management skills.
• Understanding of and experience with the plastic value chain especially regarding waste management and the technical challenges associated with achieving plastics circularity
• Ability to represent the Alliance at national/regional events.
• Established people management capability to conduct the role of Region Leader through designated staff.

Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Post Graduate degree in any or a related field.
• 15 plus years of experience in client engagement and Business management leadership
