Storage Engineer- Lead Consultant

Storage Fulfillment Team:

• Engineers and manages Allstate’s storage infrastructure. Must have the ability and experience to drive storage improvement efforts, through implementation of new technologies and/or automation in a secure data center or cloud environment. Responsible for lifecycle management, as well as, the development and deployment of new capabilities within the storage infrastructures

Purpose of the position:

• Primary purpose is to manage storage infrastructure, contribute to storage automation efforts, delivery new storage capabilities to support Allstate’s business needs, and ensure storage security standards are met,

Scope of position includes:

• Enterprise storage management and administration
• Automation of storage administration and management as needed.
• Management of storage platforms/resources which could include NetApp, Scality, Wintel, UNIX/Solaris/RHEL, VMware (vSAN), HDS/IBM/PURE/Nimble Storage, and Brocade.
• Engagement with internal business functions, other IT support organizations, and multiple diverse application support teams

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Responsible for lifecycle management of storage platforms.
Introduce and deploy new storage capabilities through the introduction and deployment of new technologies.
Develop and deploy storage automation to improve service delivery. Represent the storage teams in collaborative efforts and projects with internal clients and other infrastructure teams.
Maintain a relationship with storage vendors and stay abreast of their latest technology offerings and recommend new capabilities that provide value to Allstate.
Establish, implement, and perform storage management functions that ensure the resiliency, maintainability, and security of the storage infrastructure.
Translate business requirements into storage and data protection tasks and documentation.
Adhere to policies and practices associated with change management, incident management, problem management, and release management in the storage infrastructure.
Research and respond to inquiries regarding solution alternatives, execution or delivery. Effectively manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Required Technical Qualifications:
Deep knowledge of storage administration and management concepts including snapshotting, replication, and data reduction technologies (de-dup, thin provisioning, tiering, data protection, etc.)
Understanding of IP networking principles
Broad understanding of NAS protocols : NFS and CIFS, management and administration.
Broad understanding of SAN storage administration including zoning, LUN security, and HBA configuration
Broad understanding of SAN along with storage technologies and protocols.
Broad understanding of SAN multipathing concepts Desired Technical Qualifications:
Knowledge of Python and PowerShell or Perl scripting
Experienced with storage infrastructure products such as HDS G1500, IBM V8000, Nimble storage, PURE, Brocade switch product line, NetApp, Scality, and/or Rubrik
Experience with / exposure to storage SAN technologies (HDS, Pure, IBM,)
Experience with / exposure to data protection products such as Rubrik
Experience with / exposure to ZL Unified Archive
Understanding of Object Storage technologies, specifically products which support the S3 API.
Knowledge and experience with VMware ESX, VMware vSAN, RHEL, and Windows Server.
Familiar with NetApp’s OnCommand suite of management utilities (OnCommand Insight, OnCommand Unified Manager)
Familiar with NetApp’s Workflow Automator utility
Familiar with cloud storage concepts
Experience with addressing vulnerabilities in storage protocols and storage platforms.
Advanced features of storage array products
VMware administration experience
Windows Server administration experience
RHEL administration experience
Experience with ServiceNow

Primary Skills

NAS, SAN and Object Storage Administration

• Deep knowledge of storage administration and management concepts including snapshotting, replication, and data reduction technologies (de-dup, thin provisioning, tiering, data protection, etc.)
