This role sits within the Data Platform Team that includes the GBT big data environment and is the source for several reporting tools that service our business partners globally. At GBT, we view data and business intelligence as an essential part of any travel management program. The ability to consolidate and enrich large data sets from multiple sources, from so many geographies, into one data platform is vital to our company’s success. The Senior Engineer will play an active part in both defining and delivering future data, analytics and insights needs in support of customer initiatives and will have the opportunity to support the advancement of GBT’s data. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, strong communication skills, and a passion to improve how our products and technical capabilities are perceived by customers/prospects and the industry

We are looking for a strong candidate who will play a fundamental role in the support of data sources and outputs within the GBT big data environment, and support of critical enterprise projects and initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Design, Code and implement solutions from concept to final hand-off to customers

• Estimate technical effort, work breakdown structure, risks, and dependencies

• Analyze and resolve technical and application problems

• Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards

• Contribute to and work with fellow engineers, designers, and other partners to develop and maintain application

• Collaborate with other engineers, participate in code review, contribute to design review

• Experiment with new and emerging technologies

Qualifications Include:

• 3+ years of experience with building complex ETL and data pipelines using AWS Glue, Spark, Python & SQL.

• Hands-on experience in Python, and SQL.

• Experience in building Real time analytics and data pipeline from different sources

• Experience in developing Micro-service using rest framework.

• Experience in exposing and consuming data using APIs.

• Experience in developing user interface using react framework

• Experience with throughput batch processing and/or streaming systems (Kafka, Spark)

• Experience in SQL (MS SQL, Postgress) databases

• Experience in AWS is a plus

• Worked on complex data structure, JSON, XML, API, and Structure Data.

• Strong experience in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns

• Create Data Models, Schema, Views, and other data stores.

• Knowledge in Travel industry is a plus

• Team player with a curious mindset willing to take on new challenges

• Fluent in English
