How will you make an impact in this role?
As the Manager, you will be the key member of the Strategic Planning and Development team of Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS), responsible for overseeing strategic planning, performance reporting, and the project management of control and compliance activities, supporting Latin America and Canada Region. This role ensures accurate and timely financial and operational reporting, provides strategic insights to leadership, and supports decision-making processes through data analysis. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information.
Amex’s Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) signs merchants to accept American Express cards and maintains the card acceptance network. GMNS is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with merchants, merchant acquirers, processors, and the network. GMNS also processes card transactions and settles with merchants that accept American Express cards. Furthermore, GMNS provides marketing information and services such as fraud prevention to merchants. In addition, GMNS builds and manages loyalty coalition programs which enable consumers to earn and spend rewards points.
The GMNS Strategy, Planning, and Development (SP&D) team works closely with the GMNS Group President and all GMNS General Managers. Specific responsibilities include planning and reporting to enable merchant acquisition and client management teams, strategy formulation, business development, investment optimization, and compliance and control management.
The successful candidate will report to the Director based in Mexico and will have 1 direct report.
Responsibilities:
Reporting & Analysis
Performance Monitoring & Insights
Process Improvement & System Optimization
Streamline reporting and planning processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Implement best practices for planning and analysis across the region
Control Management
Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements
Conduct Key Risk Indicators Audits on a quarterly basis for the LACC region
Provided support to relevant audits and regulatory reviews
Manage the documentation and implementation of standard operating procedures by creating data repositories
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as a key point of contact for Reporting & Control Management -related queries from senior management.
Present business insights and recommendations to leadership teams.
Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure strategic goals are met.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Programming, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
5 years of experience in financial planning, reporting, or a related role.
Strong knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
Proven analytical skills, including ability to consolidate and present large amounts of data from different sources in executive reports and forums, financial evaluation and modeling.
Strong communication and presentation abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Resilient, Energy, drive and flexibility
Proficiency with programming languages (SQL, Python, MLS). developing software, task automation, data analysis, and data visualization.
