Functional Description:
Credit and Fraud Risk Organization (CFR) within American Express has the mission of minimizing credit and fraud losses while promoting business growth and delivering superior customer service. In India, the CFR-CoE (Center of Excellence) is a team of 700 colleagues involved in developing predictive models, business strategies, capabilities, and platforms for driving the above outcomes across all portfolios for American Express globally.
To deliver on the vision, the team is driving the roadmap for modernizing risk platforms while enabling new business capabilities. Modernizing the Authorizations platform is a key strategic imperative to uplift an aging infrastructure and provide new capabilities to enable rapid innovation and growth.
Purpose of the Role:
As a part of CAS Modernization – Credit Decision Science team, the candidate will drive the vision and strategy for modernization of this platform from credit decision science prospective. The role involves creating product vision based on current and future need of Credit Risk Decision Science teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible to understand the current and future need of the credit decision science team in terms of the data, variables, modelling process and capability and work with the product teams to design the system. This role will require working closely with Decision science team and the product teams. Additionally, the candidate will work on data science initiatives as well.
Responsibilities
Provide business process modernization requirements based on current state and future needs. Ensure current needs are being met while future is being defined.
Identify and Incorporate needs from both consumer and commercial portfolio by partnering with Data Science and Decision Science team
Provide thought leadership, and partner with cross-functional teams including Risk, Compliance and Technologies
Understand best practices across portfolios and work toward process and data standardizations globally
Identify and prioritize the list of platform optimization opportunities & recommendations
Communicate and build consensus across multiple stakeholders in creating the best-in-class solution
Incorporate new data intelligence from consumer and commercial bureau globally by partnering with market risk teams, strategy partners and external data vendors
Establish and maintain a disciplined process of review customer cases to identify new model/variable opportunities
Qualifications

Strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to solving both practical and theoretical problems and a tremendous will to win
Demonstrated ability to provide insight and accurate judgment in addressing and resolving business challenges and opportunities
Strong people relationship building, management and influencing skills
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Sound knowledge of Machine learning algorithms / statistics / data mining and research methods
Past Experience:
Post-Graduation from a top tier college (either MBA/M tech/MS/master’s in quantitative subjects such as Economics, Statistics or Mathematics)
0-3 years relevant experience in Analytical Domain. Knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, Hive is an added advantage
Good communication and persuasion skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into business insights and recommendations, work with diverse teams and individuals, and influence others without direct authority
Ability to understand data, synthesize into real world meaning, break down business problems, and conduct brainstorming.
Relevant statistical analysis/econometric experience required and able to effectively translate analytical findings to business implications.
Experience working in highly cross-functional environment, flexibility, and adaptability to work with tight deadlines and changing priorities
