ABOUT ROLE

Astrazeneca is looking for Network Operations Lead to build and lead a team of highly skilled network engineers. This team is the point of contact for all critical network issues in Astrazeneca manufacturing sites and Astrazeneca offices globally. This team is responsible for providing end to end support for the Astrazeneca network infrastructure which includes LAN, WAN, Wireless LAN, Firewall, Load balancer and Proxy services. As a Network Lead, he will be responsible for leading a team of 10-15 Network Engineers some of whom are on shift to provide 24×7 cover. The team monitor and maintain the networks and platforms, delivering the highest possible service levels. They also ensure that changes to the network and infrastructure are planned and executed in order to meet the agreed dates for service provision, and project builds are completed on time.

Typical Accountabilities

Operational Excellence As a lead you will be expected to drive operational excellence in everything we do. This includes creating processes, procedures, and automation to improve efficiency in our day-to-day tasks and projects. You will work closely on supporting our internal customers and ensuring that their needs and issues are being addressed.

• Accountable for Network/event monitoring, incident detection and resolution of issues
• Manage all incidents in the networking domain in accordance with the defined Incident Management Process
• Assign tasks to incident management personnel and supervise on-going technical efforts
• Ensures and follows up SLA and pushes for a short MTTR (Mean Time to Repair) to reduce impact to business
• Understand the impact of incidents and wherever required, qualify critical incidents
• Follows up and coordinate critical incidents from incident logging till closure
• Ensure all the Problems and Service requests are closed by team within agreed timelines.
• Keep up-to date with the latest relevant technology, relevant standards, policies and directives;
• Produce and maintain technical documents, operations manuals/run books for the associated services for this team in line with corporate standards;
• Playing accountable role along with team while handling the operations issues and delivering the assigned projects
• Lead High Priority Incident technical bridges to capture activity detail and to manage incident resolutions.
• They may have to get in to the issues technically, drive the issue closure along with Vendors.
• Work with different Vendors and service Provider for faster and accurate resolution/implementation.
• Finding the scope improvement by initiating the Lean/Six Sigma projects to add the efficiency in to system/process.
• Drive automation within the team by identifying areas of improvement.
• Identifies and acts upon opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce operational risks
• Evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of support and maintenance services and provide recommendations for savings and improvements
• Collaborate with Campus Teams and own Service Improvement Plans for major incidents and instances of customer dissatisfaction
• Performance management; holds team accountable to clearly achieve results through coaching and performance management while creating a culture superior performance.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Typically, 10-12 years of Experience supporting large scaler enterprise level network infrastructure.
• 2-4 years of experience managing teams.
• CCNP –Routing and Switching or Security
• ITIL V3 Foundation Certified
• Candidate must have worked/handled the 24/7 Network Operations Centre or Support teams
• Global customer interaction is one of the key expectations from candidate
• The candidate should hold very rich experience in corporate LAN & WAN infrastructure
• Candidate must have worked on the newest technologies (AWS Cloud, ACI, SDN and SDWAN)
• Hands-on experience on Cisco Routers (ASR/ISR Series) and Switches (6500/4500/3850 Model)
• Knowledge on solving Firewalls (Cisco ASA, Firepower or Checkpoint) and Load balancers (F5/NetScaler)
• Candidate must have work experience in implementing/solving Routing (Static, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP and Policy Based routing) and Switching issues (VSS/STP)
• Good communication and facilitation skills

Desirable

• Business Administration / Master’s Degree
• Experience as a customer concern Engineer or L3 Network Engineer
• Passion to work on core technology platform
• Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams and demonstrable ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
