Job Summary:
The communications specialist provides support for technical and corporate PR activity on behalf of Farnell, known as element14 in APAC. This includes writing and pitching press releases, responding to media inquiries, and developing articles. This role involves working closely with the Senior PR Manager to pitch technology and trade publications, including managing content with high levels of technical information. The ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator with multiple business stakeholders, including regional and business unit PR and marketing leads, subject matter experts, supplier marketing and corporate PR teams. This position is primarily responsible for PR activities within the Asia Pacific region, but global collaboration across time zones is required.
Principal Responsibilities:
Support the media relations efforts for element14’s technical PR activity with technology and trade publications in APAC in coordination with the Senior PR Manager, business unit and regional counterparts. This includes:

Drafting press releases and pitches for trade press and influencers that cover element14’s technology and business, ranging from electronic components distribution to IoT to embedded technology solutions.

Preparing spokespeople for media interviews, including gathering messaging, compiling briefing books and fact-checking.

Development and placing technical articles in key publications.

Working alongside external PR agencies.

Creating entries for industry awards as appropriate.

Providing support for element14 product PR as needed.
Support the communications efforts for element14’s corporate PR activity, including:

Supporting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) communications efforts by assisting with the annual sustainability report, gathering messaging, compiling briefing books and fact-checking.

Supporting global community engagement program by gathering employee volunteer stories, driving strategic programs and publicising opportunities internally.
Provide administrative support to the PR team including:

Compiling and distributing newsletters,
-
Maintaining the online newsroom,
-
Responding to media surveys,
-
Distributing press releases,
-
Uploading press releases to newswires and managing media lists,
-
Compiling regular reports leveraging media measurement software,
-
Tagging media coverage to facilitate accurate reporting,

Managing language translation processes,
-
Additional administrative support as needed.
Work Experience:
-
1-3 years’ experience in media relations, public relations or corporate communications, either in in-house or agency settings (technology experience preferred)

Proven ability to understand and communicate complex technical information

Sound judgment and commitment to integrity

Strong time and task management, operates with a sense of urgency and values timeliness

Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills

Ability to coordinate and align feedback from internal stakeholders

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects, working across time zones as needed

Experience in media measurement software, specifically Meltwater, preferred
Education and Certification(s):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
