Business Growth & Planning
Implement the underwriting guidelines pertaining to motor product segments/lines of business in the specified region and identify the associated business risks.
Monitor the business mix and loss ratios and recommend counter measures for profitable growth.
Undertake periodic visits to various branches and intermediaries for market feedback on product, process, business trends and to understand the locational nuances/issues and address the same.
Monitor the TAT of local underwriters and the performance of various intermediaries in the region.
Support the team in assessment of underlying risk by applying technical knowledge to ensure acquisition of genuine business.
Co-ordinate with pre-inspection agencies for appropriate vehicle inspection and checks.
Advise Channel Partners on new business opportunities by analyzing past trends and data.
Audit underwriting deviations and taking corrective actions as and when necessary.
Risk Management
Conduct assessment of risk parameters associated with various motor products as per defined underwriting guidelines to ensure coverage of future liabilities and minimization of loss ratios for BAGIC’s motor business.
Analyze risks taking into account geographical aspects, regional experience and previous years statistics.
Provide sanctions on deviations by assessing exception cases over and above standard parameters.
Relationship Management:
Actively engage the regional intermediaries – OEMs, motor dealers etc.– to maintain profitable working relationships and stay abreast of the latest developments in the sector.
Liaison with the various local pre-inspection agencies.
Interact with internal stakeholders (Motor, Claims, Operations etc.) for back office support, to discuss various motor products and risks that can be undertaken in compliance with regulatory requirements and to understand system performance feedback, claims experience of customers in the region.
Provide location insights and feedback to the Actuarial team to determine the appropriate premium that should be charged on policies as per the developed underwriting guidelines.
Invest in employee development at the local office level via trainings and interactions.
Regional Audit, Review & Reporting
Collaborate with respective departments to provide key inputs for the monthly IMD and LOB wise loss minimization reports.
Review defined metrics periodically and strategize to take appropriate actions in case of any irregularity or variance in the regional performance.
Monitor adherence of various processes in motor underwriting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Team development
Participate in monthly and quarterly reviews with the function head and own team.
Participate in the selection process to identify the right talent for various positions within the regional Underwriting team.
Provide technical expertise to the team members and enable them to enhance their underwriting skillset; additionally delegate tasks and create development opportunities for team members to enhance domain knowledge and expertise.
Establish individual performance expectations for team and regularly review their performance.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE :
Post Graduate – added advantage Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Automobile Engineering
Minimum 3-5 years handling on motor claims /relevant experience
Domain expertise in service side (dealership) of motor sector
Exposure of underwriting management in motor industry
