Relocation Authorized:National – Family Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project Work Location:New Delhi POSITION SUMMARY: Located at the Gurgaon office, develops and maintains in-depth technical and global supply knowledge of assigned commodities and uses this knowledge to leverage opportunities and mitigate risks for Bechtel Projects. JOB DIMENSIONS: A. Supervision Received Reports to and receives operational direction from the assigned Supervisor. B. Supervision Exercised May provide supervision, training and guidance to other engineering personnel as required. C. Contacts Maintains working relationships with Electrical Function, Electrical SMEs, project and discipline personnel and Supply Chain personnel to perform assigned duties. Maintains working relationships with bidders and suppliers involved with the performance of assigned tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to) : Helps projects in developing sourcing strategy to deliver best value to our Customers while giving due consideration to Project’s Approved Manufacturers List, project financing considerations and compliance to tariff and quota risk Performs in-depth technical review of supplier proposals as and when required Identifies and qualifies new Suppliers as per business needs and maintains pre-qualification documents submitted by Suppliers Continually evaluates new – technologies/techniques that improve schedule and reduce cost Keeps track of developments, opportunities and challenges in acquisition of assigned commodities and keeps project management team and senior management abreast of the same Maintains commodity heat map for assigned commodities Collaborates with other SMEs and other engineering colleagues across different business lines and locations Helps key/critical Supplier relationships with Supplier’s senior project personnel executing orders to ensure performance of the work Responsible for assigned orders from development through closure, to include engagement with Engineering on purchase requisition development, the acquisition and delivery of purchases, and order closeout to include supporting management of back-charges and claims Communicates with Suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions Compiles data needed to prepare any internal reports or presentations Oversees Supplier performance and ensures Supplier evaluation reports are used for efficient execution of ongoing/ future projects Visits supplier or sub-supplier facilities as and when required to do so Organizes technology forums and knowledge sharing sessions with discipline and project personnel QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed University. Post-graduate specialization in Electrical Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred. 15+ years of industry experience including 8-10 years in supplier shops with experience in design, manufacture, purchasing and expediting of electrical equipment and bulk materials in a reputed company with min. 5 years as Electrical category lead. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT: In-depth knowledge of Electrical commodities (Transformers, Switchgear, Cables, and bulks) including but not limited to the below: -manufacturing processes for main commodity and all sub-components -the entire supply chain including sub-tier suppliers, input material sources -the general global supply landscape, manufacturing and fabrication methods, related challenges -Innovative technologies/techniques and alternate material and component knowledge related to the main commodity -Major suppliers -General principles and techniques of testing and inspection requirements -Fully conversant with related engineering standards and codes -Ability to present to a variety of internal and external audiences in remote locations -Ability to present technical papers at industry conferences.
