WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Research Manager within BCG’s Data and Research Service (DRS) team, you will lead the Research Team focused on TMT. You will be a key member of the DRS Management Team in APAC; and will be responsible for driving business growth, managing delivery, and deepening customer relationships. Further, you will own hiring, training, and team building activities for your team.

You will be line manager for a team of around 8-10 researchers, as well as operationally manage additional/ vendor resources. You will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing people, with full ownership of their career development and performance management. You will shape positive, creative working relationships with internal business partners in the TMT Practice Area of BCG DRS

YOU’RE GOOD AT

Team management and development

  • With excellent managing and coaching expertise, you will ensure that the team meets the high- quality delivery and in turn is able to achieve service delivery objectives such as utilization, good customer feedback etc.
  • As a strong role model with an ability to motivate others, you will communicate team vision/plans and drive delivery
  • With strong accuracy and attention to detail, you will independently manage TMT PA aligned research delivery team members and other resources in the region
  • Establishing a robust mentoring and apprenticeship model within the team; to drive a sharper focus on value-add through delivery

    Driving business growth

  • Acting as thought partner and strategic thinker, with strong problem-solving and lateral thinking ability; you will manage business relationships with leadership team at regional level, and are also able to partner with stakeholders in both transactional and strategic dimensions
  • Engaging in regular dialogue with key customers (power users) among senior Case Team (CT) and Knowledge Team (KT) to ensure a comprehensive research coverage for their cases/topics. Sense check on a regular basis on the quality of DRS support and explore opportunities to expand DRS’ role throughout the case lifecycle
  • Embedding, participating, and contributing to PA forums (Global PA meetings, emerging topic calls, and other PA-related business platforms) to gain visibility on priority topics and case pipeline
  • Driving migration towards higher complexity work
  • Prioritizing complex research requests/projects and engaging proactively throughout the delivery value-chain to ensure optimal customer satisfaction
  • Constantly identifying opportunities for templatization/standardization to enable team’s migration towards more complex work.
  • Finding productization opportunities to expand your team’s offering portfolio

    Working flexibly in in a fast-paced environment

  • You will effectively prioritize and multi-task, and have the ability to work in fast- paced and deadline focused environment
  • Keeping up with industry trends, sources and methods, you are capable of performing research, if and when needed.

    • YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • 6-8+ years relevant working experience in research with a focus on TMT and digital topics is strongly preferred, with a good understanding on one or more Technology topics, such as, Cloud Computing, Semiconductors, Software, IT Services, Datacenters, Telecom, Media, as well as, emerging topics, such as, Gen AI
  • Proficiency with major databases, such as, Gartner, Forrester, IDC, eMarketer, CBInsights, Factiva, Hoovers, CapitalIQ, Orbis, OneSource, ComScore, AppAnnie, SimilarWeb etc. is preferred but not mandatory
  • Master’s degree preferred, with demonstrated strong academic record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to drive business discussions with key stakeholders
