Key Responsibilities

• The ideal rold holder has 1-5 years of experience working in high agile environment building/supporting high growth products run on highly scalable platforms

• The ideal role holder will be part of a very rapidly evolving Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team aligned to a technology focus area.

• As a Principal Engineer, the role holder will be a hands-on technical leader, assess various technology possibilities, brainstorm on various possibilities with the right architectural constraints and provide/implement the solutions.

Skills

• Leadership: Technical leadership in terms of being abreast with the latest developments and providing technical thought leadership to the engineering teams on how to design for operations.

• People Management: Ability to mentor and lead a matrix team of engineers working in the SRE space.

• Bias for Action: Ability to have an action oriented mindset that helps the company to rapidly innovate and fail-fast. From a SRE space this would mean trial various possibilities, assess right tooling strategy.

• Lead by Example: Ability to lead by example for the junior engineers in the wider teams, be presentable to a senior audience

Technical Skills

• Infrastructure-As-A-Code: Past experience working in the IaaC solutions (Puppet, Chef, Ansible)

• APM Tools: Past experience working in APM Tools (Splunk, Dynatrace – any one)

• Automation: Past experience in eliminating TOIL using automation solutions. Knowledge of any one programming language – Java, Python.

• DevOps: Past experience working in a DevOps setup enabling engineers with solutions to deliver/deploy/monitor code in Live using DevOps tooling to enable Continuous Delivery practices. Knowledge of Jenkins, Git, Docker (knowledge on Kubernetes preferred)

• Cloud: Past experience working in Cloud environments having dealt with either migrations or green field implementations. (AWS/GCP preferred)

Experience

• Commercial & Risk Awareness: Experience in evaluation of the obvious and subtle commercial risks/issues/challenges especially in relation to a programme/project. Experience in determining the appropriate commercial solutions.

• Software Development Concepts: Proficiency with the use of a wide range of programming concepts including (but not limited to): recursion, multi-threading, memory management, garbage collection. Aware of and has applied a range of algorithms, for example related to sorting and searching.

• Change Management: Experience in transforming solution design & delivery to improve quality & cost and being able to identify and prove concepts for future technology.
