Job Overview:
Serve as the Master or Deck Officer on board the following U.S. Army vessels: Great Bridge, Tug Mystic, Catamarans, Ferry Boats, LCM’s and MV Patriot in order to support any mission requirements and the transportation of freight, equipment, passengers, and other cargo.
This position is unaccompanied; and a Bachelor’s Quarter (BQ) will be provided.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Ensure the safe operation of the vessels is in accordance with USAG-KA and Army Regulations.
Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
Assign work projects to crew which includes, but is not limited to, the performance of routine maintenance, equipment checks and general upkeep of the vessels.
Inspect cleanliness of the vessels and barges.
Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and maintenance schedules.
Ensure all crew members are performing their duties.
Prepare written reports per company and regulatory agency directives.
Check and approve all requisitions and work orders.
Accurately maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies; and ensure supplies are used in an efficient manner.
Ensures the proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the assigned tasks is worn at all times.
Ensuring safety, operational, and appearance standards are maintained on each vessel
Conducting and maintaining compliance of all safety drills and training of all crew members.
Inspecting and ensuring proper function of vessel operating systems.
Complete training as the Vessel Security Officer and implementing all security measures as prescribed by the vessel security plan.
Accurately maintain all required recordkeeping of vessel logs, engine room logs, and incident reports.
Immediately address attendance, performance and disciplinary issues associated with crew members.
Prepare required performance evaluations as may be required.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:Mandatory:
High school diploma or equivalent.
U.S. Coast Guard 100T Ocean Master license with applicable STCW endorsements for international waters.
Three (3) years’ supervisory experience as a Captain.
RADAR endorsement.
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
USCG Approved First Aid/CPR Certificate.
Ability to successfully pass any background checks, pre-employment physical requirements and drug testing required by the contract.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

In order to qualify for this position, you must be fully vaccinated prior to the start of your assignment and show proof of your vaccination status, unless you are legally entitled to an accommodation (religious or medical).
The definition of fully vaccinated is that you have:
1.) Received a vaccine that is recognized by the governing entity and is either a.) Two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine b.) Two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine c.) Two doses of Moderna Vaccine (or) d. One dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine; and
2.) Two weeks elapsed after the final dose was administered, which is either one or two doses depending on brand of the vaccination.
