The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Job Description-

We are looking for a senior Java developer with strong data/event-driven design and implementation skills to develop quality and resilient software using continuous integration and testing methodologies for our next generation Custody technology transformation.

This is a delivery-focused role, and requires strong engineering skills with ability to quickly comprehend complex business problems and drive solutions around them from design to production deployment.

Responsibilities:

• Understanding functional and non functional requirements thoroughly and analyzing the project needs.

• Envisioning the overall solution for the requirements and being able to define technologies, frameworks and patterns to realize it.

• Determining and implementing design methodologies and tool sets.

• Carrying out POCs to make sure that suggested design/technologies meet the requirements.

• Expertise in all phases of software delivery processes and risk controls (including CI-CD, testing , agile/scrum model of working, release and deployment, DevOps).

• Work proactively & independently to address project requirements, and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address project delivery risks.

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas.

• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement

• Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality

• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems

• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.

• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Must-haves:

• 8 to 12 years of experience with Strong event-driven architecture, design and development skills.

• Expert level knowledge of building J2EE applications using java 8 and above, Microservices, Spring and Spring boot.

• Experience in low level and high level designing.

• Experience with pub/sub infrastructure (eg Apache Kafka) and sql/no-sql databases.

• Experience of cloud-native architectures and delivery of such solutions using microservice patterns.

• Experience and aptitude of Agile and DevOps approaches – e.g. continuous integration, test automation, frequent releases, containerization.

• Understanding of DevOps automation and application monitoring and support tools for example Jira, Jenkins, Docker, Helm, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift.

• Actively participate in User story refinement, design of the solution, and develop the same to meet or exceed the acceptance criteria.

• Knowledge of no-sql datastores for example elastic, mongodb.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative manner with peers across different time zones.

• Passionate about good design and code quality and have strong engineering practices.

Desirable:

• Financial services experience, knowledge of resilient enterprise systems in areas like core banking, or financial messaging

• Experience with non-Java languages

• Knowledge of resilient enterprise systems

• Knowledge of mainframe technologies (e.g. COBOL, CICS, VSAM)

Knowledge of engineering for the cloud and practical experience with AWS or GCP.

Qualifications:

• 8-12 years of relevant experience

• Experience in systems analysis, design and programming of software applications

• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods

• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
