The Data Science Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Objectives:

• The role of VP – Data Science group is based at Chennai and reports to the Sr. VP.

• The key requirement for the role is the ability to understand the business, develop data-driven solutions using analytics to address business problems and independently manage end-to-end project communication with business partners. The individual will possess the ability to work in teams and display a proactive learning attitude.

• We are looking for Self-motivated individuals with a flexible, positive and mature mindset to deal with ambiguities of complex business problems.

• To be successful in this role, the individual will need to have proven experience in development of solutions/platforms for Financial markets environment. It is expected that the individual will have superior technical knowledge of current programming languages, technologies and other leading edge development tools

Core Responsibilities:

• MIS Reporting and Visualization: Undertake complex analysis to accomplish the project objective. Code, Test and Execute information systems projects. Standardization and Efficient production of MIS reports using Tableau.

• Data Manipulation: Manipulate and Aggregate data extracted from various data sources using Python. This would require an understanding of project objectives, data requirements and working with databases to meet the data needs for the project.

• Develop automation scripts in Python

• Presentation of results: The individual would be expected to independently design presentations to summarize the result of analysis.

• Business Knowledge: Develop an understanding of the domain/function. The individual is expected to develop domain expertise in his/her work area.

• Teamwork: Develop cross-site relationships to enhance leverage of ideas. Set and manage partner expectations. Coach and mentor junior analysts by sharing Business, Functional and Technical expertise

• Communication and Relationship: Independently manage end-to-end project/partner communication across the various levels in the organization. It is extremely critical to develop and maintain smooth relationship with partners across business units

• Automation of BAU, develop self-service solutions and deliver business value

• Ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement, contribution to organizational initiatives

• Need to lead a team as required and mentor them.

• Remain current on industry specific knowledge and emerging technology

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Work closely with business partners in ensuring the MIS transition is as per plan, highlight any issues to the stakeholders in time.

• Ability to work in dynamic and high pressure environment.

• Work closely with partners across business units to understand project requirements, timely delivery and partner communication with 100 % accuracy and solving business problems.

• Auditing and quality checks are extremely critical for this role.

• Timely partner communication and attending business calls

• Data driven solutions and working on critical Initiatives, Identify opportunities to drive data analytics solutions

• Guide and mentor Junior team members.

• Design, Develop and Transition – MIS and Business reporting using Tableau (BAU and Adhoc), business analysis , other data requirements (Code, Test and Execute ) and assist with simple analytics requirements ( this is not a modeling / complex analytics role)

• Build Solution Design and develop the solution by using appropriate tool/technology including Python, SAS, Tableau, Excel etc.,

• Ability to understand the business, develop data-driven solutions to address business problems and independently manage end-to-end project communication with business partners

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• BTech/B.E/MCA in Information Technology / Information Systems / Computer Applications

• Master degree is preferred

Experience:

Established competency in one or more of the following

• 12+ years of relevant work experience in Banking / Financial Services / Analytics Industry / Like industry

• Good knowledge in Data Analytics (Financial domain background)

• Strong analytical aptitude and logical reasoning ability

• Visualization: Tableau / Tableau Prep Builder (Mandatory experience)

• Programming –SQL, Python (Mandatory experience) and SAS (Optional)

• Exposure to BIG Data – HIVE/Impala, SPARK preferred

• Identify areas for improved testing efficiencies, test automation and implementation of automated test solution will fall within your scope

• Create and implement Test automation Strategies for projects executed in Agile and Waterfall model

• Identifying quality issues and creating test reports

• Must be able to multi-task with many competing day-to-day activities with competing priorities

• Flexibility to adapt to a varied work schedule

• Ability to accept constructive feedback

• Sound ability to manage conflict

• Good written and verbal communication skills
