We are looking for a Vice President to lead and develop our team of approximately 60 staff of the marine department in Chennai, India covering the disciplines of structural, coastal, geotechnical engineering and BIM. In addition to this you will be part of the International Leadership Team for Marine and Transport infrastructure in COWI. In this position, you will have the opportunity to co-create on multi-disciplinary marine infrastructure and climate adaptation projects for COWI. Your responsibilities encompass three main areas: Leadership, People management; and Business Development.

Leadership

• Contributing to and communicating the strategy for COWI Marine and Transportation Business unit.

• Overseeing development and execution of Department Action Plans including recruitment and strategic focus areas including Innovation and Digitalisation

• Forward work planning including revenue and resource forecasting

• Ensuring targets set for quality of deliverables are achieved

People Management:

• Leadership and people management of the marine department in India including competency development and employee engagement

• Having an oversight of resource management and recruitment needs including the talent management and succession planning strategies

• Maximising cross-team collaboration working with marine units located in Scandinavia, UK, North America and SE Asia

Business Development:

• Mentor and provide leadership to marketing and engineering professionals for the business development strategy of COWI Marine, capture planning and implementation in collaboration with the market director for marine and transportation

• Support as a Key Account Manager or advisor to Key Account Managers for clients in an assigned geographic region(s), and create customer relationship development plans along with overseeing their successful executions

• Maintain active participation and presence in external related organizations or events to raise the profile of the firm

• Track business development leads in an assigned geographic region(s) by maintaining a thorough knowledge of the COWI Marine business for the pursuit of opportunities

Furthermore, you’ll have:

• A Master’s degree in Engineering, for instance with specialisation in marine, along with 15+ years of relevant experience in multi-disciplinary port and marine projects within Transportation Infrastructure sector

• Experience in leading large multidisciplinary port / marine projects in an Indian/ International consultancy firm

• An ability to participate in proposal development, evaluate business risk and support business development activities

• Line management experience and the interest and ability to effectively guide, develop, inspire, and retain a diverse multidisciplinary department to meet the short-term and long-term strategic business goals

• Experience of supervising complex and cross-organizational initiatives and develop cooperative relationships with project managers, execution leads and client stakeholders
