Job Details:
Cubic is looking for a dynamic leader for its globally distributed database team. The individual will provide technical guidance and leadership to modernize and optimize large scale systems for cities around the world. Coordinate activities for proposals/new business. Define budget and schedule constraints. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for a talented team of onshore and offshore Database team
• Manage the Scrum process for the team
• Conduct regular code reviews and peer development sessions with team members
• Articulate complex data concepts at levels appropriate for various audiences
• Determine the best migration target based on the nature of the application and the type of data and the business logic in the database, and if PostgreSQL or MySQL or any other open source database suits better as a target database technology for migration
• Lead migration of PL/SQL code that includes Packages, Procedures and Functions from Oracle to PostgreSQL
• Automate tasks to improve efficiency and quality of the team and infrastructure
• Manager periodic database/software releases
• Work with IT Server Management and other groups and make sure that all issues, incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner
• Planning and implementation of data archiving strategies for the data life cycle management and data retention procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Four-year college degree in computer science, computer engineering or other related technical discipline, plus a minimum of 5 to 10 years of hands on database administration, support, and performance tuning experience
• Must have extensive experience in Oracle, MSSQL or PostGres
• Familiarity/experience with OCI/Azure
• Proficient in database support, administration, performance tuning and database monitoring
• Experience performing Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations/port application from Oracle to PostgreSQL with alternate approaches that are open source.
• Knowledge in the target data types in PostgreSQL that suit the corresponding Oracle data types while migrating objects from Oracle.
• Must have experience leading a team
• Able to prioritize work and complete multiple tasks under deadline and budget guidelines.
• May be required to travel domestically and internationally to include working odd hours, in-line with customer requirements

• Expert Oracle and PL/SQL skills
• Agile/Scrum Master
• Great at translating non-technical business requirements into technical action plans
• Software development team leadership
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate, adopt and teach new technologies
• Creative problem solving, resourcefulness and productivity working independently or collaborataively
• Oracle to PostgreSQL migration using FDW’s or custom tools or existing open source tools
• Experience in a variety of complex environments in verticals such as finance, healthcare, government and consulting.
