Full Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Responsible for all aspects of Server Infrastructure and Hosting Applications backup and recovery using Veeam Availability Suite 9.5/10.x and/or IBM Spectrum Protect (formal named Tivoli Storage Systems – TSM). Role includes: System Engineering solutions, Systems administration, ongoing maintenance, upgrades, Business Continuity (BCP), Data and File System protections and recovery, problem-solving, systems configuration, and implementation efforts for large and / or complex projects. An emphasis on operational excellence, continous improvement of systems, related processes, and procedures.
Plans, documents procedures and coordinate activities with local and remote team members and customers.
Flexiblity to work in a dynamic fast paced enviornment with rapid technology changes and complex customer demands. Willingess to get involved with other technologies such as but not limited to Cloud Protection Manager (CPM for AWS platform, Azure Backup, VMware, Hyper-V, HPE Apollo sytems, Windows servers, Linux servers and IBM libraries.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or relevant experience and accomplishments
5-6 years of experience in the IT field
5+ years of experience engineering, design, implementation, maintenance, application and system upgrades, performance monitoring, backups and restores, support in IBM AIX, Linux and MS Windows servers
5+ years in Veeam Backup & Replication administration.
Demonstrate and understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
Demonstrate an understanding of complex problem-solving techniques dealing with Data Protection environments
Ability to follow documented standards, processes, and procedures
Demonstrate a working understanding of quality assurance and/or software development processes and methodologies, with the ability to share that knowledge with peers, and project team members
Ability to effectively communicate written and verbal to all levels within the organizations as well as communicate directly with customers on new projects and issues with production systems
Ability to communicate technical information both verbal and written to end-users
Ability to review and prioritize client requests
VERY strong analytical, logistical, troubleshooting skills
Focus on organization and detail ordinated
Experience with remote user and support
Understanding and proven experience using helpdesk ticketing systems such as Service Now
Experience with MS Office desktop applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
On-call support 24×7 as required including evening and weekend.
TECHNOLOGY / TOOL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Experienced TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) System Administrator with knowledge of AIX and Windows operation systems – Required
Experienced with Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 or newer or equivalent technology- Preferred
Experienced with Microsoft Windows 2012 and newer operating systems
Experienced troubleshooting and resolving common backup failures
Experienced in Disaster Recovery exercises
Configure and maintaining backup schedules
Strong customer service skills and maintain good working relationships with internal customers
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently without supervision
Strong experience in a Microsoft centric environment is preferred to ensure a strong foundation in application support and troubleshooting
Strong time management skills
Good to have
2+ years of experience of any Cloud Technology (Azure/AWS/GCP) is a plus.
2+ years VMWare and VCenter administration experience is a plus.
