Job Title : Surveillance Data Scientist and Lead Programmer Location: Bangalore India The Independent Review Group (IRG) is an independent Level 1 control function performing trading surveillance across the Corporate and Investment Bank division. Located within Regulatory Operations, IRG are closely aligned with front office whilst maintaining segregation to perform a review and challenge control – identification and prevention of potentially fraudulent trading activity. The platform provides sophisticated analytics to generate meaningful alerts, automated workflow and management reporting to support the monitoring and fraud detection process. You’ll be working on an industry leading anomaly detection platform that uses innovative solutions involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). You will be responsible to build MI, Tableau dashboards, analytical models to detect potentially fraudulent transactions. Your key responsibilities

• Full-stack development skills providing the ability to take a data analytic product from inception through to production
• Working across the full spectrum of the development lifecycle – from rapidly knocking out an end-to-end prototype to resolving production issues with the analytical model

• Problem solving at a globally complex scale – ability to navigate a complex organization in order to identify keys systems and influence people required to deliver the product
• Undertaking AI and Machine Learning research and development projects
• Attending training sessions and involvement in development and testing tasks
• Lead global projects in the surveillance and KYC space
• Understanding the business requirements and documenting the same to assist in building a tech solution
• Create reports, dashboards and build tactical and strategic workflow solutions
• Perform code reviews and come up with high level project plans for projects you lead

Your skills and experience

• A minimum 15 years of experience in software development – in-depth knowledge of python programming language and one or more AI/ML tools
• PhD/MSc from a top tier university in a Quantitative Discipline (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics/Econometrics)
• Industry experience across the full-stack development environment –
  • Using machine learning and statistical modeling techniques in identifying patterns and signals
  • Engineering data pipelines across distributed, complex datasets in order to get the data in a form in which to apply the model
  • Building UI dashboards for both internal model analysis and external result communications
  • Researching new tools and processes to facilitate the effectiveness of all of the above processes
• Excellent programming skills, predominantly across the Python/Anaconda suite (scikit-learn, pandas, numpy), SQL (excellent), Javascript (viz libraries such as D3.js, Highcharts), HTML/CSS (intermediate). Experience in distributed analytic engines, preference is Apache Spark / pyspark and associated ecosystem (e.g. MLlib, Elastic search, Kibana). Excellent software engineering fundamentals, i.e. fluent with TDD, BDD, CI with fluency across Windows and Linux development/deployment environments
• Exceptionally strong mathematical/statistical/computer science fundamentals, being able to logically construct and apply a model from first principles
• 3+ years experience within a banking environment advantageous
