ETG Looking For Climate Solutions Kenya Manager (Relocation to Kenya) at Greater Bengaluru Area Full Time

ETG Climate Solutions is a new business unit within the ETG Commodities vertical with a current staff complement of 70 people across Switzerland, Spain, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa and Kenya. Climate Solutions seeks to build upon the Group’s large implementation experience of various farmer related initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa, to deliver climate and livelihood benefits at scale to farmers, using modern tools and carbon market access. Climate Solutions has developed a bespoke program for emerging farmers across Africa called the African Emerging Farmer Carbon Abatement Program (AEF CAP) which has already been launched in Zambia, Malawi and Kenya.

Purpose of the Job

ETG Climate Solutions in Kenya already has a (regional) project management team of 5 and a field team of 70 staff that has deployed the launching agroforestry project in Kilifi County. The role of the ETG Climate Solutions Kenya Manager will be to steer the scaling of the existing projects within the structure of the larger ETG organization and in the changed regulatory landscape in Kenya, and to lead the business development and inception of new projects on agroforestry, cookstoves and other circularity interventions and nature-based solutions

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Project Business Development

– Explore the full extent of ETG Group footprint in country in order to build relationships with the existing business verticals and to identify opportunities within existing ETG Group to grow climate projects.

– Drive the business development and onboarding of new projects through assessment of potential third party contacts, designing project structure and providing budget plans

• Operational Management

– Spearhead local ETG Climate Solutions team buildout, coordinate recruitment, engage local ETG HR partners to ensure smooth onboarding of the new team members

– Ensure incountry cooperation with other ETG verticals to allow for smooth embedding of activities

• Supervision of Program delivery

– Supervise the delivery of ETG Climate Solutions projects in

Kenya- Maintain accurate timelines on project delivery, manage risks, and coordinate information sharing.

– Facilitate carbon monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) exercises for operational projects

• Government relations & sector partnerships

– Provide the Project Design team with timely project delivery updates, any related challenges, and any significant regulatory changes relevant to operations

– Develop and maintain relationship with governmental institutions and carbon

What we are looking for

• Track record of 5 and 10 years in project management and/ or business development, in one of the following:

– Carbon

– Commodity trading

– Agriculture

– Sustainability

• Proven experience and understanding of below areas are a strong argument in favour of the candidate:

– Project delivery and management related to voluntary carbon credit schemes

– Understanding of local carbon policy and regulatory structures

– Kenyan the business, political and agricultural landscape

• Good analytical and organization skills, with an independent, and meticulous way of working

• Thrives in faced-paced environments of rapid growth, adaptable and driver of innovation

• A strong team-player, building motivation through excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Solution-oriented, adaptable with a structured approach to problem-solving and achieving results

• Working proficiency in English language and Kiswahili is welcome

• Willingness to travel and work in an international context
