Senior SQL Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. SQL DBA with expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our SQL database environment on AWS and On premises, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security.

What you’ll do:
Administer, maintain, and optimize our SQL database environment on AWS and On premises

Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for all databases

Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies

Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues

Analyse and tune SQL queries for optimal performance

Manage database security and access controls

Design and implement database migration strategies from on-premises to AWS

Collaborate with other teams to ensure database integrations with applications and other systems

Automate routine tasks using Power-shell, T-SQL, AWS services like Lambda, S3, and CloudFormation

Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in database administration and AWS

Who you are:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA with a focus on AWS

In-depth knowledge of database administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and security

Experience with AWS services like RDS, Aurora, S3 and EC2

Strong knowledge of SQL and T-SQL

Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, and Bash

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices

Experience in a 24×7, high traffic OLTP environment

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Strong communication and collaboration skills

AWS certifications are a plus
