Role Overview The Aero-Thermal CFD Engineer will be responsible for building, running, and interpreting results from various thermal models ranging in complexity from a single component to complex full vehicle systems. These would include air flow and thermal management around the vehicle, in the powertrain and passenger compartments, and the underbody area.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate automobile exterior with focus on front end cooling air flow and sealing; passenger compartment comfort using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models.
• Evaluate e-Powertrain and HVAC system performance using 1D and 3D simulation tools (Brake Cooling and HVAC Vent Design).
• Knowledge of vehicle-level CFD simulations to design for vehicle under hood thermal management.
• Perform flow analysis on cooling systems.
• Understanding the sizing of air-conditioning system and determine cooling capacity required.
• Daily use of several commercial CFD codes, 1D solvers, and supporting software in Windows, Linux, Unix, and HPC.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. Master of Science is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in HV Powertrain Thermal Simulation in the Automotive industry
• Experience using CFD solvers, such as Tai-Therm, Power-therm.
• Experience using Mesh Generators, such as ANSA, TGrid, HyperWorks, etc.
• Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and physical equations to define vehicle thermal performance.
• High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-cultural teams.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
