Wiring harness Design and Development Engineer

• Owner of quality, cost, weight, and function of his/her components

• Lead and conduct Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) at India and with the core EDS team.

• Responsible for part/system integration into the larger systems/ vehicle.

• Responsible for identifying the trade-offs necessary for QCWF delivery on time for their designs

• Responsible for working with the selected suppliers in developing the components/systems meeting all the requirements

• Responsible for developing/ tracking/ maintaining detailed timing plans for the components/ systems responsible

• Need to be fully conversant with the physics of components including functioning, performance, loading, interfaces, environment, etc.

• Responsible for reviewing existing benchmarking data and obtaining new data as required to ensure best in class and cost effective design

• Manage 3D routing and package CAD layout activity

• Support Logical and physical schematic development

• Utilize best design for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices

• Create and maintain program specific related documents

• Direct manufacturing print development, sign-off, and release

• Create and maintain harness family complexity

• Direct and maintain installation illustrations

• Maintain design version control

• Manage component and harness part delivery

• Perform master harness assessment and part sign-off

• Manage manufacturing supplier tooling development, DV/PV, PPAP

• Support vehicle assembly plant builds on-site

• Address vehicle assembly issues, make necessary design changes

• Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign able warranty impact. Raise and resolve AIMS.

• Responsible for ensuring team is exploring design space for competitive designs and new technologies

• Responsible for ensuring compatibility between components / systems to mating and adjacent systems

• Responsible that the voice of the customers is captured and incorporated in design

• Need to be fully knowledgeable of the manufacturing processes and tools used to assemble components / systems in the vehicle assembly plant to ensures Design for Assembly and Service

• Responsible for CAD sign-off, BOM creation/ management, requirement compliance

• Supports attribute teams to meet program objectives (NVH, Squeak & Rattle)

• Supports design/ package reviews, vehicle builds etc. as required

• Conducts trade-off identification and analysis for all functional aspects of design

• Identify& resolve durability/ functional/ appearance/ other issues

• Conduct regular design reviews and escalate issues requiring help to management

• Review quality history and lead development of DFMEA, DVP, SCCAF and other quality documents

• Responsible for recording & maintaining current state of design Cost, Quality, Weight, Functional Targets / Requirements

• Owns DVP&R content and execution – familiar with all aspects of DVP testing

• Knowledge in other automotive electrical & electronics commodities

B.E with minimum 5 years experience in wiring harness design and development
