Main purpose of job:
We are looking for a talented person to join our dynamic and inclusive team, in enhancing team administration focussed role that will feature a blend of managing budgets, office management, internal comms reporting and providing support for projects and events.
The Science, Innovation, Tech and Health teams create a living bridge between policymakers, researchers and innovators in the UK and India. We are focussed on shaping a fourth industrial revolution that improves citizen’s health, wellbeing and prosperity, based on the principles of democracy, openness and peace in both countries – you’ll be responsible for keeping the projects and programmes that enable this on track and within budget; liaising regularly with Health, Tech and Climate Change team leaders.
You’ll work closely with the diverse range of colleagues across the BHC India network to manage budget and essential office management for our team, act as secretariat for SIN regional director and lead on internal communications by keeping the senior management informed of our team’s work.
You’ll be part of an exciting global community of science diplomats: The UK Government’s Science and Innovation (SIN) network comprises of over 100 officers around the globe in 40 different locations. The SIN India team is one of the largest of its kind; and aims to build a UK-India science and innovation partnership that is internationally recognised as an unparalleled force for global good.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

As part of the SIN team, you’ll help to create a living bridge between science and innovation policy makers, doers and thinkers in the UK and India.
You will join a team of 16 talented and enthusiastic people to deliver a portfolio centred around three main workstreams:
1. Provide financial management support to the team to enable us to forecast our spend accurately and deliver projects and events within budget. Manage the SIN Regional Director’s diary on a daily basis.
2. Be our office manager, ensuring the team has the resources and equipment they need to do their jobs well, alongside organising a fun and relevant team building programme to upskill, motivate and bond us.
3. Work with colleagues to plan and coordinate logistics for at least 5 senior visit programmes. You will be crucial to ensuring VIPs are in the right place at the right time, generating maximum impact when they meet Government, academic and industry leaders.
4. Lead the delivery of our team’s internal communications including through creation of a forward look grid, SINsights and SINpacts series and other creative and engaging products.
There is real opportunity in this role to boost the UK and India’s science and innovation partnerships on the global stage and to work with a wide range of international and domestic partners across Government and industry. Resources managed (staff and expenditure): You’ll oversee the team’s programme and budget of around £2 million.

Working patterns: Full time Mon-Fri. With Line Manager agreement, the job holder will have the option of working flexibly.

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 48,766 per month together with a 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation Fund.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family. If you are a spouse of a staff member already employed with British High Commission, you will be covered under the family medical cover of your spouse.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
Please note – Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.
