What is the Global Fund Expense & Budget (“GFEB”) group responsible for?
Role is within the Global Fund Administration & Oversight group (“GFAO”), of Franklin Templeton Services (“FTS”) which performs oversight to the registered open and closed end mutual funds
GFEB performs oversight of fund expenses, expense ratios, budgets prospectus, disclosures, product analysis, board reporting related to fund expenses
What is the Lead Fund Administration & Oversight Analyst responsible for?
Responsible for review & approval of Funds’ budgets, which may be prepared by expense type or Fund range, prepared by administrator. Understands significant changes in current year accruals as well as prior year expense.
Ability to become the subject matter expert on various expense categories, such as Custody fees, Fund Accounting and Fund Admin fees, and certain fund ranges such as CAD or ETF funds
Lead the team and other areas in Fund Administration with building out reporting utilizing digital tools.
Subject matter expert in the various tools, such as Xceptor, Alteryx and Power BI
Proactively identifies potential improvements in work processes supporting the oversight model
Review and validate fund invoices pertaining to Custody, Depository, Fund Accounting, Fund Admin, and Other fees utilizing digital tools
Lead and main point person for team and custodian/administrator for status updates and questions on invoices
Review and analyze expense disclosures for annual prospectus & SAI updates for ’40 Act funds. Works closely with fund administrator and team members on loading data into Legal’s depositor
Assist Director of the team with various impact analysis for vendor changes and other board presentations
Assist team with board reporting including analysis of Fund expenses such as review of waivers, fund expenses and annual 15c contract renewal. Assist team members on certain board commentary to be included in presentation to the Boards
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Lead Fund Administration & Oversight Analyst?
Execute risk-based approach by understanding Funds’ administrators control environment, and the continuous development and implementation of an agreed-upon global fund expense & budget oversight model
Collaborate Funds’ administrators and other groups within GFAO on changes in Funds’ expenses.
Utilize digital tools and work closely with other teams in GFAO to create reporting and analysis to assist with the Fund oversight.
Involved with reporting and analysis related to the Funds’ expenses.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience
5-8 years relevant experience, Asset Management industry experience desired
Experience working and implementing use cases through digital tools such as Xceptor, Alteryx and/or Power BI
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently, with minimal guidance, multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment while quickly adapting to on-going change
Strong knowledge of Microsoft office, primarily Excel
Shift Work Timing – 6:30 PM – 3:30 AM IST
