As a Senior Staff Lifecycle Operations Engineer – Compute Windows, you will be responsible for multiple projects in a technical domain as a technical expert or internal consultant. You will work on highly complex projects that requires in-depth knowledge of two or more specialized architecture areas and across multiple technical or functional domains. This role requires a Windows background, including an in-depth knowledge of building and supporting en masse with automation techniques, Active Directory, Virtualization techniques with VMware or other technologies, GPO management, and WSUS management.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

• Lead Windows Hosting Platforms within the DT CTO team where you will help build next-generation On Prem Windows virtual and physical platforms

• Architect, design, build, and manage Citrix environments in support of published HealthCare applications.

• Lead and provide supervision, coaching and guidance across a team of GE HealthCare employee and contingent workers to design, build and operating virtualized platforms including day to day management of contingent workers

• Manage contracts with suppliers for licensing and support services

• Provide visibility into the stability, availability & compliance of GE HealthCare compute ecosystems.

• Lead technical, business discussion and strategy for GE HealthCare’s Compute Windows direction.

• Partner with security and compliance functions to ensure product meets all security requirements.

• Participate in the development and review of IT budgets. Ensure build and operational processes are documented

• Monitor effectiveness of the delivery of hosting capabilities and operational support services while implementing continuous improvement.

• Partner with IT leadership, business unit leaders and service providers to provide strategic solutions and operational efficiencies.

• • Develop automated solutions to predict and address potential problems before they result in a service interruption

• Oversee and adapt monitoring and alerting systems

• Collaborate with all GE HealthCare business units worldwide, providing a bastion technical expertise

• Identify potential process improvements across the entire engineering organization

• Define and drive architectural enhancements into our systems to mitigate potential failure points

• Provide impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment

• Investigate root cause of severe and systemic outages, identify corrective actions

• Establish performance baseline, capacity thresholds, correlate events, and define monitoring/alerting criteria

• Provide technical coaching and direction to more junior teammates

Qualification/Requirement:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 11 plus years professional experience, Associates degree with minimum of 11 years of professional experience

• Minimum of 8 years experience in Enterprise Windows Platforms or equivalent IT professional experience

• 5 plus years experience in Window systems engineering and administration.

• 5 plus years experience with Dell, HP, or other major server vendor’s server systems

• 8 plus years experience working in a heterogenous IT infrastructure environment with various IT systems, technologies, platforms, concepts, and applications.

• Minimum 5 years of experience with relevant compute OS and storage technologies (Virtualization, Linux/UNIX, NAS, and SAN).

Desired Characteristics :

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms. This to include an in-depth knowledge of building and supporting en masse with automation techniques, Active Directory, Virtualization techniques with VMware or other technologies, GPO management, WSUS management, and strong PowerShell skills.

• Architecture, Build and Support of Citrix environments

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong influencer

• Experience with all stages of an agile software development lifecycle (CI/CD)

• Experience scripting repeatable tasks in languages such as (PowerShell, Go, Ruby, Python, Bash)

• Familiarity with configuration management systems (Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Puppet, Salt)

• Familiarity with configuring, customizing, and extending monitoring tools (Sensu, Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite, Splunk, etc.)

• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure on public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

• Comfortable using Git on the command line
