Summary

Overall target of the position
Drive and coordinate the execution of Machine Shop shift operations with (SQDC)Zero deviation in Safety and Quality. Ensure alignment of different stakeholders to achieve OTD & shop Utilization.
Demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviour to guide the team and standard work/DMS

Responsible for overall job execution & performance of the machining processes, Resource management & allocation of work within the balancing team.
Perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the machine shop plan. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• EHS Management: Participate to the risk assessment (RA)in his/her area, Implements preventive actions in line with EHS framework/LSPs/GE applicable standards.
• Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees. Typically managing hourly employee populations, contractors, and contingent workers.
• NC Program improvements & can recommend change in design of jigs/ fixtures, tools to boost productivity.
• Continuous improving and result oriented team working with Tooling and NC programming team
• Interaction with Engineering & project management for jobs, if required
• Deliver error free machining product to maintain Zero Defect & Zero accident on machine.
• Solve problems related tooling, set up, inspection requirements and routine technical challenges
• Solve problems related to programming with shop floor supervisor if there is a problem during machining.
• Uphold & participate in company Quality & EHS programs.
• Coordinate with Tooling, Process, Planners & shop floor Engineer for uninterrupted Production.
• Support & deliver program in case of urgency due to change in manufacturing schedule.
• Optimizing utilization of resources to achieve the production target
• Shop controls – shift plans, time booking, maintaining attendance, daily logbook, reporting of production data in the system, manpower planning
• Manage, Organise, monitor production operations as per plan, implement corrective action as necessary
• Track activities w.r.t to process sheet & process control plan
• Track / checks at every stage of repair as per QAP
• On time delivery of the jobs
• Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
• Interact with related Departments, Clarify Deviations, give technical guidance to subordinates to ensure quality production meeting Statutory regulations at least time and cost
• Develop and improve process, foster suggestions from employees to reduce cycle time and cost
• Maintain housekeeping (5S), Guide, monitor and supervise compliance with all safety standard and environment policy and norms (in line with ISO- 14001 and OHSAS- 18001) to ensure safe and healthy working environment.
• Communicate, Guide, motivate, interact with technicians, resolved disputes, initiate disciplinary action if necessary, to ensure smooth production and congenial work culture
• Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

• Ensures experience and lessons learned are properly fed back to FMEA analysis

Required Qualifications and Skill

• BE/ B. tech/Diploma Mechanical with 5+ years of Heavy Machine shop work experience
• Minimum knowledge on handling of latest machining processes of turbine components – Like rotor, casings, bearing pedestal, blade etc.
• Good knowledge of digital software of NC program and machining tooling processes
• Good knowledge of Heavy machines like VTL-turning lathe, Gantry machines, HBM, HTL,
• Good knowledge of cutting tools – selection criteria, parameters, and tooling improvements 5 axis machines
• Additional specialization/certification in CNC programming – Nice to have
• Understanding of safe practice and risk related welding process and EHS requirements
• Write and read of English & Hindi Language w.r.t job requirements
