Summary

• Software Testing for Grid Control Telecom software application for equipment, supervision, management and control.

o Continuous Integration Environment setup based on latest DevOps technologies and tools
o Develop Test automation using Catalon Studio, Test Complete, Selenium, shell scripting and other test frameworks
o Create test cases and assignments using JIRA based tools
o Evaluate and Improve existing test cases and their automation

Context Electrical GRID control and monitoring applications for efficient GRID protection relies on dedicated proactive telecom networks which uses different transmission technologies such as Ethernet, Power Line Carrier and Optical fiber. One of the applications, and the corresponding equipment , so-called Teleprotection or Protection Signaling, use these telecom media for delivering and forwarding Realtime protection signaling between different sub-stations to achieve suited GRID protection schemes for GRID utilities. GE’s Utilities Communication (UCOM) team design and develops such teleprotection equipment, applications and software solutions for supervising these equipment (between 10 to 100s of equipment depending of customers deployed systems) communicating over multi-technology complex networks. “DIP.net controller” is a software platform and application that aggregates, correlates and visualizes telecom data from multiple teleprotection nodes into user-oriented views, driving operational decisions to monitor, upgrade, configure and restore services, notify users of potential service impacts and meet KPIs and performance metrics. Responsibilities & Duties

• Responsible for testing a feature and/or a small feature set. Contributes to the team and works with direction from Senior Team Members or management; increasing the ability to work independently
• Break down problems and estimates time for quality related tasks
• Responsible for running the test cases, creating/amending test cases
• Resolve deployment/installation issues formally
• Evaluate and improve existing test cases
• support automated test cases (Shell scripts, python, Catalon Studio, Test Complete, Selenium)
• Responsible for creating test reports and conduct demonstrations
• Demonstrate increasing expertise in application domain and functional areas
• Apply various testing types and methodologies effectively during SW Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary
• Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
• Work independently and delivers testing and use case creation which meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
• Write effective tests according to best practices so that crucial functional requirements are verified, and tests remain valid when code is refactored
• Begin to collaborate with development team in bugs fixing and build plans
• Collaborate with Quality Leaders in creating test plans
• Implement and configures testing tools/test simulations and Implement system-level integration testing

Education Master’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Experience: QA Engineer for Device Management, Supervision and/or control applications on telecom network environment for at least more than 5 years. Skills and Knowledge:

• Languages: Shell scripting, Python, Java, Javascript…
• Environment: Linux, docker,
• Automation: API and WEB-UI
• Frameworks: TestComplete, BDD, Selenium

• Network and Web protocols: Ethernet, TCP/IP, HTTP, SOAP, REST
• Database: PostGreSQL and/or MySQL and/or cassandra
• Web Server: Tomcat, spring
• Debugging strategies/analysis with appropriate tools is key
• Continuous integration using latest DevOps standards (github, jenkins, artifactory…)
• Knowledge of collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Software Development Life Cycle, defects, tasks and test cases life cycle
• Tools: Wireshark, tcpdump, or any tool related to network traffic analyzers

Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge in linux systems and shell scripting
• Strong knowledge of test automation using Catalon Studio, Test Complete, Selenium
• Strong knowledge of tomcat/spring web application deployment on linux systems
• Good knowledge of docker containers creation management and deployment
• Good experience in Telecom network management application testing.
• Big Plus: Embedded linux environments and frameworks (buidroot, ptxdist)
