Gems Precision Castings Pvt. Ltd. is a Castings Manufacturing Foundry which started its production from the year 2006, located on Chennai – Bangalore Highway and is about 50 Kms away from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

It produces SG iron for a variety of automobile applications. The foundry is built on a 1.4 acres land with 20,000 sq. feet built up area.

Our Vision is to achieve a target of 200 tonnes of good castings every month before the end of the year 2021, with our dedicated team of 125 employees, we are confident that we can fulfill our vision. Our Objective is to achieve this mission.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role: General Manager – Operations
Industry : Manufacturing / Automotive / Foundry
Location : Sriperumbdur/Kanchipuram.
Requirement : BE/Diploma
Experience : 12 – 20 Years
Salary : Negotiable (Upto 1,00,000 based on Experience)

FOUNDRY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
SHELL MOULD FOUNDRY EXPERIENCE PREFERED.

Ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in Plant Administration, Project Management, Maintenance, Foundry Operations, Production Operations Process Management, Commercial Operations and Manpower Planning

• Leading the organization to increase revenues & profitability, streamline workflow and create a team environment to increase productivity
• Pratical experience in Melting, Moldings, Pattern Making and Methoding
• Experience in reducing manufacturing costs by process improvements such as Yield improvements, Sand-to-good castings improvements, etc.
• Deploying various methodologies to analyse processes and recommending modifications to minimize escalations, reduce rejection, realize operational efficiencies, control variability & costs & reduce cycle-time
• Facilitating continual improvement & process re-engineering activities to improve quality and attain cost reduction
• Direct and motivate quality team to reduce rejections to be under 5%
• Should be a good comminucator & capable of handling OE & Tier-1 customer

Job scope/Roles & responsibilities:

1) Achieve Production Targets & manage overall operations:

• Ensure daily production targets are fulfilled
• Tackle everyday shopfloor problems like manpower/operator absenteeism, alternative planning during power shutdown, machine breakdown. etc.
• Strive to achieve 100% or more of daily & monthly schedule
• Ensure on time dispatches to customers
• Convince customer to pull schedule
• Guide team to prepare monthly review meeting reports to present to MD
• Maint EBITA at 70% and control other factors such as EB cost, Man power cost, material cost, etc.

2) Man Power Management

• Effectively utilize contract labour
• Ensure optimum manpower (manpower cost to be
• Guide team to Recruit managers/engineers where needed or when one relieves from their position
• Manage contractors to ensure prompt supply of contract labours

3) Quality defect reductions

• Work with Quality manager to reduce customer end defects that may have skipped from final inspection. Target to reduce it to
• Answer customer calls/meetings during quality issues at customer end
• Reduce inhouse casting defects
• Assist NPD team by giving suggestions to improve Yield, sand ratios, etc.

4) Cost reduction

• Work on cost reduction projects like pouring wastage reduction, EB cost reductions, etc.
• continuously overall operational costs to improve profits
• Working to improve EBITA.
