Job Description Summary
Based at GE Power Conversion Chennai site the Senior Services manager role is an exciting opportunity for an action-oriented individual with deep technical foundation of Power Conversion equipment. You will be able to leverage your technical knowledge to directly support customer through commissioning, maintaining, servicing of Power Conversion’s state of the art products and solutions across the globe, while you collaborate across the globe with key functional teams and enhance your strategic business acumen. The job will require frequent traveling up to 60 % to various client sites in India and globally.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Service Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Lead complete field resource management efforts
Responsible for overall business management duties for assigned Field Service Engineers
Provide the operational leadership needed to drive profitable service growth
Provide program site leadership, technical direction, and assistance to the customer, user, and other GE field personnel in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of assigned product lines
Perform on-site installation of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation
Ensure accurate documentation of as commissioned documents for record keeping
Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
Assist customer with improving reliability and reducing cost of ownership
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer’s sites
Provide accurate and timely information to assigned personnel regarding salary planning, performance appraisals, career coaching and disciplinary action as required
Lead efforts to ensure customer service excellence for assigned customers
Manage cost control, quality, and operations-oriented customer communications
Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conduct field work in compliance with EHS and applicable regulations and encourage good employee safety practices
Participate in development and execution of the Services growth
Responsible for building strong long-term relationships with specific customers within the region
Apply Six Sigma analytical tools to assist the customer with proactive reliability and management. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Interface regularly with the Services Product Line Leader to review the progress of regional growth initiatives and participate in the development of new service offerings
All activities related to the testing and validation of an equipment, facility, or plant in accordance to the design objectives or specifications for operational use. Includes Performance Services, Performance tests.
Suggests continuous improvements in products, processes, and procedures.
Works together with other global business unit across the continents. Contacts are under mentorship and/or geared towards specifying activities, planning of activities and giving explanations on technical issues.
Works on the basis of predefined contracts and frameworks with the well-planned execution.
Promote and adhere to culture of Safety, Quality & Compliance within the I&C COE teams
Participate in project reviews with PM to identify commissioning challenges early and help implement improvement plans
Partner with PM’s to improve accuracy of commissioning
Lead commissioning scope fulfilment to improved convergence of ‘’as sold V ‘’as executed’’ commissioning budgets
Owns Customer Satisfaction
Commissioning of the Medium voltage and low voltage variable speed drives
Medium voltage drive switch gear, transformer, motor and associated equipment commissioning
Site report preparation, planning and execution
Investigating technical problems, diagnosing/repairing faults
Needs to work closely with the global project team.
Qualifications/Requirements
Masters/ Bachelors/Diploma Degree from accredited college / university in Electrical Engineering or allied Engineering.
7 – 20 years of relevant experience
Should have process knowledge of Metal /or/ Marine / /or Oil &and Gas /or Test Bench / Material Handling / Power Plant
Knowledge in Power Electronics, and Substation, High Voltage Equipment & PLC
Desired Characteristics
Work experience on MV/LV drives
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience in using Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.
