Job Description:
To develop standard processes and tools to support Global Materials Optimization System (GMOS) users and indirect material headcount planning for Manufacturing Planning studies (MPS). The ideal applicant for this role will have a background in industrial engineering, experience in indirect labor material handling, and strong IT abilities with exposure to General Assembly, Body shops in an Automotive Plant. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is critical to your success at General Motors.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain Global Materials Optimization System (GMOS) homepage
Support Global GMOS users by Trouble shooting GMOS system issues & solicit and document GMOS users’ issues/improvement suggestions.
Calculate distances and generate diagrams using Flow Planner.
Support GMOS users to populate materials process into GMOS for labor time study.
Maintain GMOS Power BI share point by Collecting & Storing GMOS files
Maintain & run Python monthly in Jupyter Notebook
Share GMOS’s Power BI monthly report metrics & results to GM’s leadership, Plant Manager, Engineers.
To provide enhancement or bug fixes on all the GMOS tools, Training Materials, flow planner & supplementals tools
Share best practice in Global GMOS monthly Meeting and develop an environment to allow global user to share and learn each month.
Maintain GM IT system like GMOS, Share point, Power BI Servers, Flow Planners for annual review
Develop standard process and tools to support Global GMOS users and indirect material headcount planning for MPS/MS studies.
Support GM global plants on GMOS, STS Generator and Flow planner as needed.
Drive continuous improvement through elimination of waste
Participate in lean manufacturing through implementation of GM’s Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
Support implementation and training for standardized work development
Drive problem solving efforts
Work collaboratively as one team with all levels of the organization
Develop relationships with the Production department and related personnel
Implement common Industrial Engineering business practices and processes
Your job may demand you to work and provide support in North America time zone.
Minimum Requirements:
8 to15 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing engineering preferably in an Automotive Industry.
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering/Technical discipline or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience in material handling and delivery operation processes.
Knowledge on GM Industrial Engineering tools like STDS (Standard time data system), IMOS (Integrated Manufacturing Operations System), Materials standards.
Experience in Flow Planner, AutoCAD, Excel VBA
Proficient in Share point, Knime programing, Jupyter note, Python coding, Power BI, Microsoft Excel.
Proficient to Develop test procedure upon test goal.
Knowledge of time study and motion analysis
Must be a self-starter
Self-motivated individual with continuous improvement focus.
Strong communication & follow-up skills
Strong experience working in manufacturing with a background in continuous improvement
Experience in documentation of standardized work procedures
Experience in implementation of lean manufacturing concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced excel skills like VBA & Pivot Table
Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools (AutoCAD / Factory CAD / Flow Planner)
Ability to adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods
Project management and time management skills
Proficient in setting up and run python in Jupyter notebook.
Experience in annual review of IT systems
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Processes and GM-GMS Principles and Elements.
