Major Duties and Responsibilities
Perform static and dynamic CAE simulation to validate product/process against manufacturing requirements for stiffness, rigidity & dimensional integrity. Scope includes but not limited to handling analysis, datum analysis, variation analysis etc
Understand & align all activities with GM’s cultural priorities and business goals.
Keep self updated with latest developments in CAE domain
Develop future skills for self aligning with GM’s Global Manufacturing Strategic Vision as recommended by the SME
Actively participate in testing and implementation of new technologies in virtual simulations including immersive opportunities in Body (VR, AR, MR) to gain competitive advantage.
Support to expand team workscope and include new workstreams inline with Virtual Engineering strategic priorities
Adhere to process excellence metrics like 100% First Time Quality, 100% On time delivery through standardized work.
Contribute for continuous improvements & complexity reduction initiatives in the team. Be part of Operational Excellence and Quality Circle projects.
Actively participate in innovation & Advanced Technology projects. Represent team in organization wide innovation initiatives/ competitions.
Capture and share lessons learned with the team / SME.
Support to drive core efficiencies within the team to meet GM’s GVDP milestones as defined by the Global center.
Drive & Practice culture to win initiatives (Peer recognitions and Peer feedback).
Embrace change and adapt “Fail First and Fail Fast” . Share learnings.
Support to develop backup for all critical activities in Virtual Engineering Body – Manufacturing CAE
Additional Job Description
Knowledge
Sound knowledge in CAE tools such as Hypermesh, ANSA , NASTRAN, Abaqus/LS-Dyna, Optistruct.
Sound knowledge in Finite Element Analysis and Strength of Materials.
Good knowledge in Teamcenter and visualization software such as TcVIs.
Fairly good understanding of any CAD software such as UG, CATIA, PRO-E etc.
Good knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements related to Body.
Good understanding of GVDP, GLP, Quality Chain, DFMEA-PFMEA.
Good knowledge of complete automotive body and Press shop processes and material handling.
Good knowledge of OpEx tools and different problem solving methodologies.
Good knowledge on GM-GMS Principles and Workplace safety systems.
Skills
Experienced in working with multiple interfaces to deliver the results.
Basic Data analysis and research to implement process improvement opportunities.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Problem solving & analytical skills.
Basic coding skills on process automation and business intelligence tools (C/C++, Java, VB script, Python, Power BI etc.,).
Ability
Ability to manage multiple complex projects and assignments by closely working with SME Manufacturing CAE.
Should be able to organize and plan effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, dynamic and often ambiguous environment.
Ability to work with intercultural & multi-disciplinary teams to achieve enterprise goals.
High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takesinitiative/self-directed.
Educational Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering discipline.
Experience
4+ years of CAE experience in Automotive OEMs / Engineering Organizations.
Important note:
General Shift 5 days / week. But work assignment involves reasonable stretch to meet the job requirements.
