General Motors Hiring for Senior/Lead Engineer – ME Automation at Bangalore Urban, Karnataka Full Time

Roles and Responsibilities:
Execution of Robot related projects in Body-shop, Press – shop, General Assembly, Global Propulsion System shop and Paint shop sealing applications

Monitor and control projects including project scope, issues, risks, and schedule. Manage issues to closure. Communicate project status and ensures all stakeholders are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and milestone reviews.

Monitor the configuration of the robots for the application and process like Welding guns, Welding controller, Material Handling grippers, Tool Changers, Dispense equipment etc. Selection of the right model of Robot depending on the process, payload and cycle time requirements.

Coordinate with Robot programming agency for a given project. Approval of Robotic cells for shipment after pre-installation at jig maker’s site.

Approval of Robot simulation and OLP made for a particular project. Suggest improvements to reduce on-floor execution time.

Buy-off of Robot programs from Robot programming agency.

Involve in development and maintenance of engineering standards (templates, e tools etc) and drive to deploy them across all new projects.

Responsible for training and integrating with Robot programming agency to adhere to GM standards

Responsible for doing Root Cause Analysis.

Coordinate project timing schedule with ME centers. Interact and coordinate with the controls team for interfacing the Robot with the control system.

Coordinate with process suppliers for special processes like roller hemming, laser welding, clinching etc.

Coordination with other units of GM worldwide for global projects.

Inhouse design and execution of automation projects including robot teaching for GM plants worldwide.

Additional Job Description

Knowledge:
Prefer to have hands on experience with Fanuc robot programming and experience with trouble shooting of Fanuc robots on both electrical and mechanical issues.

Added advantage if certified on General Motors Robotics standards (GRS).

Added advantage if undergone Fanuc Spot tool plus training program.

Prefer to have project management and site execution experience.

Knowledge on Robotic applications like spot-welding, arc-welding, dispensing, material handling, roller hemming etc.

Should be able to read mechanical drawings, layout and have some mechanical design capabilities.

Acquaintance with Robot simulation studies and experience on Robot simulation software will be an added advantage.

Knowledge on Robot interface with other equipment (PLC, Weld timer, Dispense equipment etc).

Experience in large BIW projects.

Ability to understand electrical and electronic requirements for mechanical equipment’s.

Should be able to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams.

Additional weightage for those who have undergone Cross functional training program in Robotics or those who worked as cross functional resource for robotics project execution.

Masters/Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering.

4-8 years’ experience in any Automotive companies or Robot OEM with Robotics & Automation background.
