Get to know our Team:
Grab the leading super app in Southeast Asia combines transport, food delivery, logistics, payments and much more in a single platform. In all this, our map and localisation infrastructures serve as fundamental building blocks in enabling multiple location-based services.

The world in Southeast Asia constantly changes and therefore, so must our representation of this world. This not only provides a huge challenge, but also an exciting opportunity to leverage high-volume, high-velocity datasets in various modalities to build complex models that help Grab understand this world intelligently.

A team of 30 map making experienced enthusiasts working with Data Pipeline, Machine Learning, Imagery collection teams.

Map Analyst Team
The team has the goal to create the best map, using all data available through manual editing and also leveraging artificial intelligence techniques for that. The envisioned end-result based on shared effort with other geo teams is the best SE-Asia map in the world to be used on all Grab products.

It is a mature team, containing junior and senior map analysts with extensive experience on editing various areas of the world, working side-by-side with Java developers, database developers, machine learning or site reliability engineers. The will to help others and also continuously grow, the desire to deliver high standard, scalable and high quality maps are among this teams defining traits.

We also support the development of innovative, highly scalable, models through deep research and advanced analysis so that we make our products intelligent and delight our customers.

Get to know the Role:
Understand business needs, identify areas for investigation, translate them to technical problems to be solved

Collaborate across the company, working with software engineering, product management, to assist with data-related issues

Work closely with Grabs remote subcontractors and offer proper support

Apply GIS technology in strategic and tactical ways to improve map quality, processes and tools

Contribute on closing the map gaps by adding new features from different sources/datasets

The must-haves :
BS or MS degree in Geodesy, Cartography, Geomatics or related field

Experience with QGIS, GrassGIS, GDAL/OGR or other related GIS technologies

Understanding cartographic principles and graphic design principles

Good relational database skills ( prefered PostgreSQL)

Experience in curating, manipulating and analysing spatial datasets

Familiarity with WebGIS services

Data maintenance: be able to maintain data, correctly archive and ensure quality control

Self-motivated learner who keeps himself up-to-date with the latest technology and propose new approaches based on the previous experiences

Able to communicate well in English both verbally and in written communication

Strong skills in deadline management and ability to work in a team environment

The Good-to-haves :
Hands-on experience with industry navigation data and components

Good knowledge and understanding of the OpenStreetMap environment and structure

Experience with improving OSM data for navigation purposes using JOSM platform

Experience in working with one programming language : Python/Java/ Perl

Exposure to Linux environment
