Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to support our Australian law firm in a variety of tasks related to property law, corporate & commercial law.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who want to gain exposure to an Australian work culture while working closely with a dynamic legal team.
The candidate will support legal research, draft documents like statements of claim, defenses, replies, and affidavits, manage case files, and communicate with clients and third parties (after successfully completing the probation period).
This role requires excellent English language proficiency, strong organizational skills, and experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Power Point). Experience in using LEAP Practice Management Software is preferred but not necessary.

• Document Management: Prepare and review legal documents and forms such as contracts, transfer forms, and settlement statements in line with Australian legal standards using precedents from the LEAP practice management system.

xc2xb7Research and Due Diligence: Conduct legal research and compile findings for property law, corporate & commercial law as required. Conduct property searches and relevant due diligence

• Conveyancing: Oversee conveyancing files from initiation to completion, covering residential, commercial, and development transactions.
• Settlements: Assist in a smooth and timely settlements process
• Client and Case Coordination: Assist with client communications, scheduling client meetings, and case progress updates. Coordinate with clients and third parties as needed.
• Software Use: Utilize PEXA and LEAP software for case management, document tracking, and other legal tasks. Use Microsoft Office Suite for document creation and organization.
• File and Data Management: Organize, update, and maintain digital files in compliance with the firm’s procedures and confidentiality standards.
• Administrative Support: Assist with billing, calendaring, answering the phone, and other administrative tasks as needed to ensure smooth operation of legal services.
• Collaboration: Work effectively with the Australian team to ensure the timely delivery of financial reports and compliance documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, Paralegal Studies, or related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with exposure to Australian or common law legal systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in LEAP is highly regarded and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is necessary.
• Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English (both written and verbal).
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to accuracy and detail, especially in document preparation and data entry.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Australian legal processes and terminology.
• Previous experience in property law, corporate & commercial law

This role is a ‘working from office’ role but may require some alignment with Australian working hours for effective communication with the firm and clients.
Note that the law firm operates on a paperless office environment.
The successful candidate must be willing to learn and adapt to innovative IT programs, including Artificial Intelligence programs such as ChatGPT.
The successful candidate must be proactive in seeking clarifications on work tasks when required.
