Job Description

The technical artist acts as a link between the artists and the programmers working on a game. Their main area of focus is to integrate art assets into a game without taking away either the artistic vision or going beyond the technical limits of the platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactively use knowledge and experience to identify and solve problems before they affect the development team
• Implement new techniques that increase art quality and efficiency across various art disciplines
• Work with Modelers and programmers to create 3D art and bring it into the engine
• Support artists and engineers in the use of the 3D art pipeline and user-facing engine tools
• Provide hands-on support to artists and engineers in regard to asset performance and validation
• Must be able to create custom tools
• Research and oversee the implementation of rendering techniques such as normal and specular maps, particle systems and pixel shaders.

REQUIREMENTS

• Understanding of modeling and art tools Like Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop
• Setting up and maintaining the workflow of the art production, deciding which art packages and tools a studio should use, investigating new techniques, and then going ahead and implementing them.
• Experience in a full digital art content creation and maintaining the pipeline
• Experience using Unity as a technical artist
• Optimization of Completed art such as character art or environment background and ensure the designs keep high standards of visual quality.
• Familiarity working and developing in a multi-platform, multi-project environment
• Should have a good understanding of the fundamentals of art including visual design, shape language, color theory, and lighting
• Should have good artistic skills and ability to work with technical documentation
• Unity programming is an added bonus for the role
