Your Role and Responsibilities
This role assists the Computer Operator by providing services in a multi-vendor, multi-protocol complex system environments. They will interact with clients, vendors and management to ensure high level of client satisfaction. They will act as a technical resource and point of escalation for Operators or management. They will be engaged in identifying and resolving complex problems relating to product or service installation, hardware or software updates, configuration, operations, performance, or other aspects of information technology products and services related to the operations environment.
You Role and Responsibilities
The Product Control specialist in the technical operations analysts role has overall responsibility for production applications – including developing the operational plan/scheduling and control of distributed system processing of scripts (jobs) in support of IBM clients. The core responsibilities are: setup appropriate scheduling applications and Operator Instructions relevant to the processing platform; second-level support of operation in processing, creation, and customizing of scripts (jobs); recovery activities in production, disaster tests during a disaster; monitor client change requests and actions via IBMs standard Problem and Change tool records according to agreed processes and timescales, including IBMs Request Fulfillment Process and the IBM Change Control Process; ensure quality assurance and security compliance of all production distributed system environments; solve application problems to achieve service level agreements and support of clients in critical situations; and control the scheduling of ALL processing via approved distributed system scheduling tools. Product Control specialists develop, implement, manage and resolve application related calendar functions for their clients. The Product Control specialist also has overall responsibility for production applications, including developing the operational plan for distributed code promotion and softcopy management. They use designated tools to execute code promotion and promoting code of application libraries into production. They perform distribution into production, maintain internal security, and manage problems and isolate root cause. They maintain the following: report input definitions, distribution definitions, online viewing security definitions, report banner pages, user profiles and report retention. The Product Control specialist manages online viewing and/or hardcopy distribution of end-user type reports. They administer and maintain softcopy products. They perform testing of new versions/releases after installs or upgrades. They test the PTFs/APARs, as requested. They process service requests from our client base, performing updates as requested or as needed. They perform problem determination and resolution and work with other levels of support. The Product Control specialist may provide direct end user support and work with the security team to ensure reports are protected as requested through products’ security features. They are responsible for some batch maintenance jobs as it pertains to softcopy administration.
